In the tradition of Amblin classics where fantastical events occur in the most unexpected places, Jack Black and two-time Academy Award® winner Cate Blanchett star in The House with a Clock in Its Walls, from Amblin Entertainment. The magical adventure tells the spine-tingling tale of 10-year-old Lewis (Owen Vaccaro) who goes to live with his uncle in a creaky old house with a mysterious tick-tocking heart. But his new town’s sleepy façade jolts to life with a secret world of warlocks and witches when Lewis accidentally awakens the dead.
Based on the beloved children’s classic written by John Bellairs and illustrated by Edward Gorey, The House with a Clock in Its Walls is directed by master frightener Eli Roth and written by Eric Kripke (creator of TV’s Supernatural). Co-starring Kyle MacLachlan, Colleen Camp, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Vanessa Anne Williams and Sunny Suljic, it is produced by Mythology Entertainment’s Brad Fischer (Shutter Island) and James Vanderbilt (Zodiac), as well as Kripke.
Executive produced by William Sherak, Tracey Nyberg and Laeta Kalogridis, The House with a Clock in Its Walls will be released by Universal Pictures.
Many make stupid comments about this movie and likely have neither read this book (or any for that matter). I for one chose to Watch it and found it quite entertaining and did not feel like all the plots and details were exposed. It was fun and I also enjoyed that Jack Black was still his comedic self but in a manner that worked well with the character he played. I am glad this movie was made.
Just went out to see the movie today. Not a good movie: There's no consistency and none of the plot makes sense. In some scenes Jack Black is a warlock with powers, in other moments, especially when he is in danger, he has NO power of any sort. The kid is way more powerful than him the way the movie portrays it, which is okay, I just wish there was a shred of consistency in how their powers work or don't work, or WHY they work. The sets are really fun to look at but the movie otherwise doesn't feel right or really work.
I can honestly say that this is one of the best films i have ever seen!!! I watched it yesterday and it had me hooked the whole way through!! By the end, i needed mooorrrreeee. THe only thing is that they need to make a number 2!!!
⚠ SPOILER ALERT! ⚠
(I know that I'll get some kickbacks from this, but PLEASE don't wait for me to actually care.)
I just saw this movie. It's definitely NOT a good movie for children or devoted Christians. It has many scary & demonic images, as well as paganism/occult rituals.
While I like the Fantasic Beasts series, this movie pushed WAY past paganism and the occult.
There's a child cutting himself & pouring blood on a pentagram, and a demon licking blood from a man's hand.
And to make it worse, the acting is bad and there's no solid plot.
What is this! putting this here for children to get sucked into! For I have studied REAL demonology for no purpose but to see what is true about them, and most of these things are from REAL demons, how dare you make a movie about this, no movie about demons if fun and games!!
This film is just desensitisation people's. Making people aware of the things that go on in secret, make it "normal" so when they start doing their satanic spells in the open Noone will fight it. Ever wondered why lately we've had all these satanists(aka "atheists" who still coincidentally believe in worshipping the transgender freak baphomet) these people have been shoved in everyone's throats on the news and many other articles. In the film you'll see masonic/satanic symbolisms like pentagrams, the evil hand, some dumb girl doing the 666 sign with both hands supposedly signifying the kids glasses, you'll see goats(because that's not reperencing baphomet who just happened to also be a goat, oh wait, it is), pyramids with eyes in the centre(both reversed and singular, referencing the law of reversals), devil faces, creepy sexual lines of dialogue "come toss me one" from a CHILD WTF, dragons (another god that some of these mentally ill people worship), sun worship, skull symbols representing the secret society and the obsessions with death, magic 8 balls to really drive the desensitisation train home.
Be aware of these things, as the longer we do nothing about these force feeding of their satanism, the more it'll come into the open and before you know it your children will go missing and be sacrificed.
And if you think I'm joking just research all these symbols, particularly Alistair crowleys works and you'll see they aren't in this movie as a coincidence. They want to bring their mysticism and sick practices to the open and be as depraved and evil legally. And we let it happen, hundred years ago these bastards would be burnt at the stake.
+Bethany Meeks thanks, glad to see you're here, was starting to lose faith in the community on this video, I expected some sheeple to ask me what I'm talking about despite all the explanation I did in that long essay. Amen! Definitely proves God exist, more they attack him or try to normalise satanism, , more stronger my faith becomes. God bless you too sister
YES THANK YOU! Glad to see someone else that no longer wearing the blinders. I just want to add the light and beauty to be found in this tragic agenda being pushed is that it shows that God is real! I just pray more and more start to awaken to the Truth. God bless!
Whatever it is that reminds me off fantastic beasts and where to find them. The child is little brother of harry potter who had been lost since childhood while playing with his family and got raised by the hand of that guy.
If Jack Black ruins one more of my childhood favorites. This doesn't vibe with the book at all. Uncle Jonathon is a ginger. Lewis is a portly shy boy. At least dye Jack Black's hair and cast a kid accordingly. Come on.
I don't get the Hype about this movie being scary at all for kids. When I was young movies like Something Wicked This Way Comes, Poltergeist, & Arachnophobia were scary kids films. Today there's really nothing scary for kids. Even Coraline was scarier for kids than this movie. Also even a kid would be smart enough to find this totally stupid and unexplainable, there's a hidden room Jack Black's character was supposed to have spent years searching for until he finally finds a hidden lever. Well apparently he never thought to walk around the outside of the house in all that time because the room is large and has very big windows looking out so he didn't need to find the secret lever at all.
This movie was great, for kids over 15, if you are under this mlvie is horrible. I dont get the pg rating. Its supposed to be a starter horror movie but if i put myself in my brothers shoes (who was also watching this) i would be absolutely terrified, hes 7. And the movie was disturbing with satanic rituals. I am really angry and shame on the creators of this movie.
is it another one of those movies where the boy has to stay with his unusual aunt and uncle and teach him magic and eventually save the world?
i mean really?? this is has been done countless times (aside from harry potter)

As a child, there was a portrait in our family home in Paris that I always loved. Today, it’s known as Maya with Doll – but to me it was just a portrait of my mother, albeit a remarkable one. “Your grandfather was a painter,” she would say, whenever the subject of the canvas, one of many that hung around the house, came up in discussion. It was only when I began school, and whispers about my heritage started to follow me, that I realised what an understatement that was. My grandfather was far more than a painter. He was the defining figure of 20th-century art – and, as I would learn later from years of academic study, a true genius. It was a revelation that would shape the course of my life in many ways. When Picasso died – in 1973, the year before I was born – he left behind 45,000 works, not to mention personal objects and correspondence.
