it is utterly bullshit that the 1500 viewfinder is useless unless you buy another 400 worth of plastic crap just to get a handle.

Nicely lit how did you do it?
DVE Store (3 years ago)
+Eightfivetwo HK Thanks! I used a semi-transparent acrylic sweep and lit it from underneath.

What's with the audio drop?
DVE Store (3 years ago)
I did chop up the audio track some, but it sounds pretty clean here on my very nice studio monitors :)
We Play Wax (3 years ago)
Not that. There are sudden gaps in the audio track like you deleted a word in the middle of a phrase. If you don't have a very clean sound or a soundtrack beneath the voice over, it is very noticeable. For example you audio has a noise floor so when you cut words from the VO track, you need to add a noise floor in that gap or it sounds like you turned your mic on and off.

I had a mic boomed in, but I leaned out of optimum range a few times.
David Larney (3 years ago)
Bit surprised it doesn't come with the top handle.

With due respect, who cares about packaging? Or, how well you open boxes?
DVE Store (3 years ago)
Hi, Terry: I think it's a bit of a vicarious thrill, for some, to watch a new tool/toy being opened up and explored. It doesn't have much to do with the packaging or me opening boxes :)

OMG!! With all due respect, who cares that the Ursa is heavy? I'm so sick of hearing how heavy it is. So what? I come from film cameras and those were heavy as hell but there's never anyone sobbing about it's weight. Even the first full HD Sony cameras was also very heavy but yet no complaints. All these new age Youtube filmmakers has gotten real lazy and spoiled with DSLR cameras. As a matter of fact, a fully rigged Alexa weighs exactly as an Ursa but why aren't people complaining about the weight of Alexa? Any high end camera used to shoot major films to mid range indie films to low budget films are very heavy once they are fully rigged. I"m tired of all these run and gun Youtube videographers, wedding and event shooters always complain about Ursa's weight. If you are shooting a feature or a commercial, you will be in a controlled set so who cares about weight? Ursa was designed for serious filmmakers Not run and gun shoot. I wish people will understand that. Just tell your damn story...that's all that matters.

Good, glad you make money doing what I do because then, you should know the difference and stop sobbing about the size of a camera. And for the record, I never once insulted anyone. ALL I've said was, people need to stop complaining about the size of Ursa because it weighs exactly the same as Red Epic dragon (once rigged up) and Arri Alexa (once rigged up) but I never hear anyone complain about the size of those other two cameras. Why is that??? If you took that as an insult, then hey...I don't know what to tell ya. Have a good one, I'm done!

LOL YOU CAN EXPRESS YOUR "OPINION" without insulting people and talking to people like they dont make money in the same business you are in. I know the different and my opinion stays the same!
GuGu E. Michaels (2 years ago)
Guy, there's no such thing. It's not about the size of a camera, it's about what market and people it was designed for. A lot of people don't understand what camera is designed for and for what market space. They just assume as long as it is a camera, just grab it and start shooting. That's not how it works in the professional world. Real DPs understand what each job requires. Ursa was specifically designed for high end film works and commercial (with crew) unlike Canon cameras designed for content (weddings, youtube, events, etc) people need to know the difference. Any high end camera for films, commercials (high end jobs) will be heavy period. Content cameras are run and gun cameras. Learn the difference.

lol u seem to be a big camera guy. Its not that serious guys...different sizes for different people. Some people do a wide variety of video work. You are limited with a big camera if you plan on doing something else besides commercials and narrative work.

Crazy you can't mount the viewfinder. Huge lapse in BM judgement.
