✅ IKEA Lack shelf no drilling no nails on wall

Command Picture & Frame Hanging Strips http://amzn.to/2uMvoZG IKEA LACK http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/50282177/ 2018 Update video: https://youtu.be/Tr05Y1-GptA In this video, I'll show you how I put up some shelves without drilling or nails into walls or studs. By using 3m Command picture frame strips, you can remove the shelf without damaging the wall. The shelf attaches via the command velcro-like strips and can easily be detached for re-positioning. The strips can then be removed from the wall without leaving any holes. I use this method to put action figures and other small items. Heavy items are not recommended. I estimate it can probably hold up to 5lbs of stuff. Would these be able to support a NES, PS2 Slim, and a Nintendo Wii? Each on their own shelf
Joe Botz (26 days ago)
Someone should do a test to see how much weight they could hold before failure
Kalai Veinnill (27 days ago)
Does it leave a mark on the wall when I want to remove it?
kenVersus (26 days ago)
No. Just pull the tabs carefully.

what do you think about 3 or 4 books in each shelf or a small pot plant? do you think would hold?
kenVersus (1 month ago)
If the books are paperbacks and wouldn't hurt you if it fell. Some with pot plant. The dirt will be a mess. Mine are still up since the posting of this video.
Top LK K (1 month ago)
Shangas0 I used the strips to tape a huge heavy mirror on my wall and It’s still stuck to the wall. I’ve had it for about 2 years now and it never falls. I think a small pot plant would be fine and it wouldn’t fall. But heavy books could potentially loosen them so you should test it out with a light book first.
guddu raj (1 month ago)
Don't put your DSLR on that type of shelf .... Otherwise someday your heart + kidney will come out through your mouth ... Good luck 👍 😎😎😎😎😎😎

Tried using this on my ikea clothes bar but it fell. Any suggestion?

Will the strips ruins painted walls?
akaredcrossbow (1 month ago)
Just use the screws so it’s secure, because when this fails it’s going to be a disaster. A little Joint compound and paint if you remove them.

Adam Hatfield (2 months ago)
FYI the shelves have been redesigned, they now have a full recess on that back no place to mount strips
J The Mortal (2 months ago)
Adam Hatfield yup. I was wondering why it said ‘new’ on the site. Went for pickup and got home and realized they don’t have the little block that makes it flush with the wall.

Hi, can I use it on marble tiles?
Tina A (4 months ago)
Didn’t work for me
Fuzzymoon Beam (4 months ago)
whats the max weight of stuff u can put on a shelf though. no pot plants huh..
kenVersus (4 months ago)
I'd say maybe 2lbs on the safe side. If in doubt use screws or nails. Mine are still up since I installed them. But depends on your wall surface and many factors.
okletsskate (5 months ago)
Went to check these out at Ikea, they don't have that little section of material where he added the strips, They may have updated the design to not include it.
kenVersus (5 months ago)
Yeah they have changed it. Other options would be to add some wood there. But might be too much trouble.

Wow u have a pokeball ✌😊

I'm familiar with the bubble, Morty. I also dabble in precision, and if you think you can even approach it with your sad, naked, caveman eyeball and a bubble of air, you're the reason this species is a failure, and it makes me angry!

can i put shoes on these
Chironix (5 months ago)
kenVersus oh my i didnt expect you to reply but thank you so much! i shall try this soon!
kenVersus (5 months ago)
Probably if it's not too heavy.

Stan Marr (6 months ago)
No drilling...no nails...logic: "because it causes some damage to the walls..."...rather attach it to the wall with strong-AF glue.. .. .. Then try take that motherfckr off without damaging the wall(or at least the paint),which you will anyway need to fix afterwards...
MizzReed19 (6 months ago)
Can anyone tell me what type of nails he uses
Prachi Turbadkar (6 months ago)
I am so happy I came across this video! I live in an apartment on rent, so basically I can't really do anything to the walls. This has helped me a lot. THANK YOU SO MUCH! ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!
zafar iqbal (1 month ago)
From where I'll get these item?
akaredcrossbow (1 month ago)
Just get a matched quart of paint at Home Depot and a small container of joint compound. When your ready to leave the apartment repair it yourself. If you have hardwood floors, these could potentially fall off and damage the flooring, and that is a much harder and more expensive fix. Plus you will have extra paint around if you need to touch things up for peace of mind.
Shakira Ivey Bernard (6 months ago)
Can it hold weight well?
kenVersus (6 months ago)
Not too heavy. For toy figures and stuff it's fine.
Michelle (6 months ago)
My god why would you do this.

Its not a shelf if u guessing everytime u wanna put somethink on .just put the shelf up proper with screws u donkey
G Ulmerton (9 months ago)
Using such thick shelves for so light figurines ? The cost of the shelves and the Velcro is way higher than what you put on them. Not worth it.
DarkJackal1223 (9 months ago)
This seems like a nice idea and never thought of it. Just moved into an apartment and there is no holes that can be put in the wall so no nails. Back in 2015 I went to Japan but ended up getting a good amount of figurines when I went to the arcade when it started raining when I had no coat or umbrella. Now that I have my own place I have been thinking about displaying them just for the hell of it. This may work for my project as the figures are not that heavy and there is only 4 small ones and 3 normal size ones.
DarkJackal1223 (9 months ago)
I just talked to my landlord and I guess I am allowed to use small nails but nothing as big as a screw and such. Don't know if it would be ideal but might go that way now but will give it a look into now. But thanks for the alternate idea just incase my current one fails.
DarkJackal1223 (9 months ago)
would like to use nails but not allowed to put holes in my walls and ya I saw the 1 year video and in that video is way more weight then what I will be putting on it.
kenVersus (9 months ago)
Definitely give it a try. Ideally, just use nails if you're allowed to. I don't like to drill or nail things on walls so the 3M command stuff works for me. But I don't put heavy things. Check out my 1 year update video showing it's still up.
Miss de Menor (9 months ago)
will it damage the wall paint?
Luna Tick (7 months ago)
I've had regular tape damage my walls, so I would say there's for sure a risk
kenVersus (9 months ago)
The 3M command strips can be removed without damaging the wall.
sravani sunny (9 months ago)
How much weight it can bear
kenVersus (9 months ago)
probably 5lbs or less. My items are very light. Not made to hold a lot of weight. If more, use screws and nails.
Adder314 (9 months ago)
Or do what most people do and just screw in the shelves anyway. It's just as easy to patch a hole as it is to hang the shelves in the first place.

But I constantly have to worry on when it would fall
Olive O'Sudden (3 months ago)
Not if you put literally nothing on them like this guys does. The shelves themselves don't weigh much, so if you don't load the shelves with anything, they'll be fine.
sandhyasridevi maripini (10 months ago)
Very nice and I hope you are doing well and wish you all the best.

Thank you.

Does it remove the wall paint when you try to pull them
kenVersus (10 months ago)
The 3M command strips have tabs that you pull that will remove it without ripping the paint off. That's why I use them. No damage to the walls.
Toby Wong (10 months ago)
Couple of things don't make sense. 1) How do you get it off? Doesn't seem possible to pull on the strips to release the glue. Also doesn't seem possible to detach the heavy duty velcro from 2 mounted surfaces which are perpendicular to each other 2) If it's not possible to release the strips or detach the velcro, why not just 3M heavy duty double sided tape?
kenVersus (10 months ago)
There is a tab to pull that will release the strip. My shelf is still up. Of course if you aren't sure use nails. But I was experimenting. Check out my 1 year update. https://youtu.be/w9oJfk5OpIc
noadaboa (10 months ago)
A couple of warnings: 1) I ordered the shelves from the link and they look exactly the same, EXCEPT that the side meant for mounting does not have the area in the middle that would be flush with the wall as in the video. I.e., the entire side is recessed and there's nowhere to put the command strips that would be flush with the wall. I guess they changed the design. So the easiest options are to use hardware or expose the ugly mounting side to the world. 2) Make sure your corner is 90 degrees. If both sides can't be flush with the walls then you're going to have a bad time. Many apartments and buildings have walls that are not quite at 90 degrees.
Destiny Shavon (2 months ago)
!!!!! I learned this the hard way
Alex Perry (9 months ago)
I realized this too. If you have a 3d printer you can design a corner piece to fix both the problems by re-adding the removed middle portion of the shelf then adding a bit of chamfer so if your walls are not perfectly at 90 degrees you can add a few degrees.

You can fix on wall but can not use for keeping the items.why do you give these sily ideas.
Keshav Sidhu (11 months ago)

Less than 5lbs. not to hold heavy things.
roshni rangan (11 months ago)
Not avble in india !!??!!
Luis astudillo (11 months ago)
I don't like it.
Jason V (1 year ago)
does the adhesive peel paint?
K C (1 year ago)
the weight rating on the strip pack is important, it's not per strip, it is combined
D K (1 year ago)
The bottom shelf is crooked brah.
Elliott's Lab (1 year ago)
Also amount of walls that are not perfect 90 degrees this would not work not that is is ever a good idea to fix them like this
McEnderman117 (1 year ago)
Seems a bit Lackluster... if you ask me ;)
Thijs van Abs (1 year ago)
For me it's hard to order from Amazon without a credit card so I hope that stuff can be found here in Holland too or just some online store that does accept PayPal. I really like this idea.
H N (1 year ago)
Those strips will fail after a few years depending on how much weight it's holding.
Sean (1 year ago)
Without drilling would render it pretty useless and not worth the price.
Pavel T (1 year ago)
Nice Repsol 😍
