Writing In Runes (ASMR) (Soft-Spoken) (POV)

35:27
I kept saying that I read "Lord Of The Rings", but that was a mistake. I actually read "THE HOBBIT"! I always get those two mixed up. I've never read "Lord Of The Rings". This video doesn't have very much talking in it. The majority of the video consists of writing. I wanted to make a point-of-view writing video, and I figured that runes would be interesting.

Writing Old Norse in Runes (remake/improved)

52:59
Writing in runes isn't a simple one-to-one conversion of one letter to one rune. This video shows how Old Norse was written using the runes of the Younger Futhark, and then looks at examples of real inscriptions from the Viking Age. Contents of video and translations of runestones: 0:00 Overview 1:57 Vowels 5:59 Ár (ᛅ) and Áss (ᚬ) 10:24 Consonants 11:15 Reið (ᚱ) and Ýr (ᛦ) 17:34 Sö 101. "Rolef raised this stone for his father, Skarf. He had gone with Ingvar." 26:05 Sö 131. "Spjóti, Halfdan: They raised this stone in memory of Skarđi, their brother. He went east from here with Ingvar. Evind's son lies in Serkland (the Middle East)." 30:05 DR 295. "Áskell placed this stone in memory of Tóki Gormsson, a loyal lord to him, who did not flee at Uppsala. Drengjar (warriors)—the ones who went closest to Tóki Gormsson—placed a stone on a hill in memory of their brother, supported by runes." 37:35 Sö 148. "Thjóđolf, Búi: they raised this stone for Farolf, their father. He was killed east in Garđar (Russia)." 40:29 Vg 59. "Refning and Gjalli and Brynolf and Gefolf placed this stone in memory of Fót, their father, an extremely good thegn (warrior). So has Ása, who [did] as some women will not do in memory of a husband. Hjalm and Hjalli carved the runes." 46:05 U 135. "Ingifast and Eystein and Svein had these stones raised for their father Eystein and they made this bridge and this burial mound." An Introduction to Futhorc Runes

16:39
CORRECTIONS: 1) 4:13 I'm beginning to think "loosening rune" should've been translated to "loosening runes". 2) 8:00 I showed a Futhorc-style ng-rune as belonging to a late variant of Elder Futhark, but now I can't find any evidence that such a form shows up in Elder Futhark. 3) 12:00 I should've brought up that the apparent names for the Gothic letters also attest to a common source for the names of the runes in English and Norse, as the Gothic letters almost certainly were given the names of equivalent runes. 4) 14:20 I've since come upon Norse Futhork runes being used as numerals. S01E03 - NORSE RUNES FOR WITCHCRAFT

10:34
A DISCOVERY OF NORDIC WITCHCRAFT - S01E03 - NORSE RUNESFOR WITCHCRAFT The runes are the sacred symbols of Nature's energy, their path should be thread lightly and with great respects. I tried to give a more spiritual take on the runes than academic in this episode so so that you can start incorporating the use of the runes in your daily life. It's not necessarily all about arcane and complex rituals, sometimes it's all about weaving our magic in our daily lives. I would highly recommend reading the Volsungs saga, its pure magic. Thank you. Until next time.....ha det bra xx If you would like to support this channel this is my patreon page http://www.patreon.com/freyianorling

Volklore E07 - Runes & The Origins of Writing

58:56
This is a book review and then some! I will discuss Alain de Benoist's book (published by Arktos Media) and give you my own thoughts on topics found therein. Therefore you will learn some history along the way, especially on the Indo-European peoples, our languages, and culture. I will also recommend other books to elaborate further on these topics and tell you exactly why this is not your typical runic handbook and why you should buy this book! ~ Corrections! ~ * I did not mean to say Eostre was a living person, what I meant was a living tradition and she existed as a legitimate figure of veneration in the Germanic pantheon. ** Misspoke about the podcast and Survive the Jive. I meant to say in the podcast with NoWhiteGuilt and The Great Order that Survive the Jive was mentioned, not that I did a podcast with StJ! ~ Links ~ Arktos media - https://arktos.com/ Alain de Benoist, "Runes and the Origin of Writing" - https://amzn.to/2rDefiQ Stephen Flowers, "The Northern Dawn" - https://amzn.to/2KWmeQc Philip A. Illbringyoudown and LindseyVi both did multiple parts and were always ready to help, NoHotBeverages made that insanely gorgoeus intro super quick and then that wildly stunning part near the end in just over a week. Fluffylovey spent one of her days off helping HulluMel finish his part, Angel was always super helpful and willing to take on extra bits other people couldn't do. Great folks who deserve so much praise & love you guys. So does everyone who worked on this, but just those people in particular saved my butt. Anywho, hope you enjoy! I was gonna write a little explanation on this but I'm gonna go to bed instead, good night lovely people.

Nordic Runes (elder and younger futhark) in our days

04:41
In this video, I briefly discuss about the fact that some rune meaning are outdated and may not relate to us. We are not forced to stick to the old meaning but using our creativity, we can modify them slightly to adat them to our way of life nowadays. This video is only a personal opinion and suggested way of doing.

Rune Magic - My Journey So Far

41:29
I get a lot of questions both online and on the ground about the runes: what they are, how to best begin studying them, and what has been my experience of studying and working with them. In this long and winding video I talk about my experiences reading about, drawing, carving, meditating, reading, writing, divining, wearing, and experimenting with the 24 runes of the Elder Futhark (and beyond). I’ve made a lot of beginner mistakes both big and small throughout the history of my rune practice... ideally, so that you don’t have to. I’ve also learned a lot, which I feel called to share with those who are called to receive. I’m also still learning... always. As always, take what resonates and leave the rest. Everyday Magical Things ~ Runes

01:24
Runes, or Old Norse, are letters of a runic alphabet that were used to write Germanic languages before use the of Latin. The earliest runic inscriptions date all the way back to 150 AD. The first inscriptions found on actual artifacts still remain a mystery. The early runes were not only a writing system, but magical symbols for spells and charms. The name rune itself means "secret or something hidden”. The Scandinavian variants are also known as futhark or fuþark (derived from their first six letters of the alphabet: F, U, Þ, A, R, and K); the Anglo-Saxon variant is futhorc or fuþorc (due to sound changes undergone in Old English by the names of those six letters). Runology is the study of the runic alphabets, runic inscriptions, runestones, and their history. Runology forms a specialised branch of Germanic linguistics. The earliest runic inscriptions date from around 150 AD. The characters were generally replaced by the Latin alphabet as the cultures that had used runes underwent Christianisation, by approximately 700 AD in central Europe and 1100 AD in northern Europe. However, the use of runes persisted for specialized purposes in northern Europe. Until the early 20th century, runes were used in rural Sweden for decorative purposes in Dalarna and on Runic calendars. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hope you guys can enjoy our clip. A very delayed upload of my 7th part of my video series. This covers the Cirth orthographies spoken of in my early videos. Tolkien based the Cirth on the Anglo-Saxon runes quite closely having been very familiar and dedicated to the history. I would like to thank everyone for being patient while I continue my studies and struggle to find the time to write these videos. Please remember I am active more frequently on my Facebook page; https://www.facebook.com/pages/Learn-Elvish/515646111831905 Thank you all for getting in touch and for watching my videos. I will of course upload more as soon as I can. Matt
