ABOUT THE ALBUM
“Carnival of Souls” is a conceptual musical soundscape, a mosaic composed by thirty-three fragments that, stitched together depict the incoherent flow of a surrealist lucid dream.
The music and styles portrayed through its almost 36 minutes vary impatiently from section to section, behaving like a puzzling labyrinth of dead-end hallways, a riddle with no answer where its ever-morphing nature is the only constant thread.
This record is heavily based on Italian-Slovenian experimental rock band Devil Doll, as well as in their albums’ structure, paying the due tribute by curating a mixture of original and borrowed elements in the musical, lyrical & visual dimensions.
With a thematic and imagery that shifts from a black and white 1920’s cartoon to the mystery of Hermes, Thot & Mercury’s godly trinity, the glorious creation of the Universe, up to the arrival of the foul bearded demon, and so forth, the album always navigating through an endless sea of abounding and wicked scenes. “Carnival of Souls” is a twisted journey into the subconscious mind, its darkest fears and its holiest longings, an honest promise that if everything is forgiven… amends shall be made.
