The Mystery Of The Hole In Lake Berryessa Is Finally Solved

06:24
The world is full of wonders. Among them is the mysterious hole in Lake Berryessa. No one knows how, but the mysterious hole opened up out of nowhere last year. Nobody really knew what it was, where it came from, or where the water was going to. Then, Evan Kilkus discovered something unexpected when he used a drone to explore this pit. And what he found inside was truly outrageous. ►You can support the channel: PATREON https://goo.gl/LCcdti ►Image credits: Image: Evan Kilkus / Facebook Image: Evan K / YT Image: Phovisa / YT Image: KQED Science/ Craig Miller ► SUBSCRIBE US: https://goo.gl/CAyFbx ► Like us Our Facebook Page: https://goo.gl/SBs38W ► Follow On Twitter: https://goo.gl/nvhzU6 ► Follow Us On Instagram : https://goo.gl/3UXcnx ► OUR Website : ►Article link: https://goo.gl/Lrz9Yq ► Audio by Scott Leffler -- scottleffler.com For copyright matters relating to our channel please contact us directly at : [email protected] #let_me_know

Deepest Hole in The Ocean! (Whirlpool) Saltstraumen

02:13
The Saltstraumen has the strongest tidal current in the world. Up to 400,000,000 cubic metres (520,000,000 cu yd) of seawater forces its way through a 3-kilometre (1.9 mi) long and 150-metre (490 ft) wide strait every six hours, with water speeds reaching 22 knots (41 km/h; 25 mph). Vortices known as whirlpools or maelstroms up to 10 metres (33 ft) in diameter and 5 metres (16 ft) in depth are formed when the current is at its strongest. The Saltstraumen has existed for about two to three thousand years. Before that, the area was different due to post-glacial rebound. The current is created when the tide tries to fill the Skjerstadfjorden. The height difference between the sea level and the fjord inside can be up to 1 metre (3 ft 3 in). When the current turns, there is a period when the strait is navigable.

Exploring Mysterious and Enigmatic Belize Great Blue Hole

07:05
Ramon Llaneza diving rebreather explore stargate the entrance to alien underworld in Belize and Bahamas. Watch more details about this exploration at https://youtu.be/mh49kkENw_Q . The Mysterious Belize Great Blue Hole is a large underwater hole off the coast of Belize. It lies near the center of Lighthouse Reef, a small atoll 100 kilometers (62 mi) from the mainland and Belize City. The hole is perfectly circular in shape, over 300 meters (1000 ft) across (diameter), 3140 feet circumference and 125 meters (410 ft) deep. It was formed as a limestone cave system during the last glacial period when the sea level was 400 to 500 feet below present time and was dry land. Last glacial period began about 120,000 years ago and end about 15,000 years ago. Reaching the maximum extension 26,500 years ago. At the end the ocean began to rise, the caves flooded, and the roof collapsed. Believed to be the world's largest feature of its kind, the Great Blue Hole is part of the larger Belize Barrier Reef Reserve System, a World Heritage site of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). The hole itself is the opening to a system of caves and passageway that penetrate this undersea mountain. In various places, massive limestone stalactites hang down from what was once the ceiling of air-filled caves thousand of years before the end of the last Ice Age 15,000 years ago. When the ice melted the sea level rose, flooding the caves. This process occurred in stages. Evidence for this are the shelves and ledges, carved into the limestone by the sea, which run the complete interior circumference of the Blue Hole at various depths. The Blue Hole is a "karst- eroded sinkhole." It was once a cave at the center of an underground tunnel complex whose ceiling collapsed. Some of the tunnels are thought to be linked right through to the mainland, though this has never been conclusively proved. Notable are the large population of sharks such as lemon, black tip, reef, hammerhead, and bull sharks. Mysterious and legends always have been around the Belize Blue Hole. This was the entrance to Xibalba?. It's the kind of underwater geology that inspires speculation about aliens creating geometrically perfect anomalies, mermaids and monsters living in darkness. I explored the bottom of the Blue Hole perimeter (3,140 feet circumference). To do this I dove down twice, reaching the depth of 375' feet which took 4 to 5 hours of diving each day. California's punishing rain creates rare spectacle

02:43
First the rain, now the drain. California’s punishing rain this month has flooded neighborhoods and triggered evacuations. It has also pushed Lake Berryessa in Napa County way beyond capacity, pouring water into its bathtub-like drain. It’s the first time that’s happened in 11 years, reports CBS News correspondent Mireya Villarreal. “Back in October, we were essentially half-full,” said Roland Sanford, general manager of the Solano County Water Agency. “This is the first time that the lake has been so low, and filled-up and spilled in one year.” What looks calm at the top of the “Morning Glory Spillway” looks like a raging torrent at the bottom. The spillway is located 200 feet from the Monticello Dam. It is shaped like a funnel, 72-feet wide at its lip and narrowing to 28 feet at an outlet down at the Putah Creek. When water in the lake rises to more than 440 feet above sea level, it spills over the lip of a funnel and pours into the creek 700 feet below. When the reservoir reaches capacity, this spillway can take in about 48,000 cubic feet of water per second. That’s the equivalent of draining half of an Olympic sized pool in one second. Dead Sea: From world wonder to sinkhole nightmare

06:19
Once a tourist attraction and one of the world's first health resorts, the Dead Sea is receding at an alarming rate. Multiple canals and pipelines were proposed to reduce its recession. And though the dangers have been known for years, little has been done on the ground. Some say it could be too late. Let's get started with this report  by Maya Margit, on one of the major environmental problems caused by the decline of the Dead Sea - the creation of sinkholes. If You See Square Waves In The Ocean, Get Out Of The Water Immediately

03:40
Watch The Best Story On Youtube : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zlp659DiW3g If You See Square Waves In The Ocean, Get Out Of The Water Immediately We’re used to the relaxing sounds of gentle waves hitting the shoreline, but did you know that there are different types of waves? I’m not talking about big waves like tsunamis, but a natural phenomenon known as square waves. These waves are called a “cross sea,” which forms when waves collide from different angles and form squares in the ocean. You might have never heard of or even seen waves like this, but they do exist, and they’re very dangerous. The pictures of square waves are enchanting. It almost feels these waves are inspired from a science fiction tale like the Matrix, in which the pieces of the world are about to fall apart. In areas where “cross seas” are common, residents would beg to differ. Île de Ré, an island off the west coast of France, experiencing square waves. When waves from one weather system continue to move in the same direction, even though there has been a shift in wind, it causes waves made by the new wind to run at an angle, creating a dangerous pattern. It looks harmless on the surface, but underwater, there are powerful currents that can capsize and throw large ships up in the air. The reason why is because boats are made to hit currents head on, but if waves are coming from all different angles, there’s no escape. Rare image of square waves. Cross seas also create extremely dangerous riptides, so make sure you’re not anywhere close to the water when this natural phenomenon occurs. Luckily, square waves don’t happen often, but it’s important to know what they mean and how to stay safe. A cross sea covering as far as the eye can see. 1. The convergence of the Baltic and North Seas This ocean phenomenon is believed to even be mentioned in the Quran. In Denmark, there’s a clear line that separates the Baltic and North Seas because these waters never mix together. The reason is because of the difference in densities in the two seas. Think of it like this: Why doesn’t oil and water mix? 2. Red Tide The Red Tide is also called “Algal Blooming.” Not all red tides are harmful to humans and marine life, but it’s best to stay out of these waters just in case. 3. Bioluminescent shores This mesmerizing display of bioluminescence was found in Tathra, New South Wales. These gorgeous nighttime beaches that can be found on every adventurer’s bucket list is caused by bioluminescent plankton in warm coastal waters. When these plankton are under stress, they make the water glow as a defence mechanism, attracting predators to eat the predator trying to eat them. Some people believe underwater circles were created by aliens. There’s a lot of mystery surrounding underwater crop circles after they were found near the waters of a Japanese island. Some think these intricate underwater sand designs were created by an extraterrestrial being, while others think this is the work of puffer fish. It’s more widely believed that these fish draw these circles and decorate them with shells to attract a mate. Did you know square waves exist? Blue Hole in South China Sea Proves Deepest Globally

02:05
One blue hole at China's Xisha Islands in the South China Sea, with a depth of around 300 meters, has been proved the world’s deepest known blue hole recently. Experts from the Ocean University of China and other institutions conducted a measurement of the blue one with the help of underwater robot, depth transducer and other equipment to preliminarily determine its depth. "Its exact depth still needs to be further adjusted for such factors as tide level, temperature, density and salinity of the sea water. But whatever adjustment we may make, the depth should be around 300 meters. Compared with Dean's Blue Hole, which plunges 202 meters, on Long Island, Bahamas, the world's deepest known blue hole, this one is nearly 100 meters deeper and therefore is the deepest blue hole in the world," said Professor Yang Zuosheng with the Ocean University of China. The blue hole, which can help deduce possible environmental changes, such as hydrological, ecological and topographical environment, of the South China Sea over the past thousands of years, is valuable for scientific research. The blue hole, located near the Yongle atoll on the Xisha Islands of Sansha City, south China's Hainan province, is officially named "Sansha Yongle Dragon Hole" after it had been called "dragon hole" by local fisherfolk for thousands of years. Blue holes are roughly circular depressions, whose diameter ranges from 25 meters to 300 meters. There is a sharp contrast between the holes' dark blue, deep waters and the lighter blue and shallower waters around them. Saving the Dead Sea From Sink Holes

04:52
In 1980, aerial footage of the Dead Sea in Israel showed a coastline with not one single sinkhole. Today, that same coastline contains more than 6,000. And while there are sinkholes in other parts of the world, nowhere do they spread as quickly as along the Dead Sea. As the sea’s water levels continue to drop, the phenomenon accelerates. And despite the pressure to do nothing, geologist Eli Raz set out to reverse this trend and save an ecosystem under dire threat. South China Sea "Blue Hole" Declared World's Deepest

01:07
Chinese researchers have confirmed the world's deepest underwater sinkhole, or blue hole, lies at a site in the Xisha Islands in the South China Sea. The blue hole was found to just over 300 meters deep, easily surpassing the previous record of 202 meters, the researchers confirmed on Friday. Traditionally known as Longdong, or "Dragon Hole", the natural marvel is located at 16.31 degrees north latitude and 111.46 degrees east longitude in Yongle, a major coral reef of the Xisha Islands. Locals call the phenomenon the "eye" of the South China Sea. Some local fishermen's interpretation of the 16th-century classic novel, "Journey to the West", point towards the sinkhole being the site where the hero's weapon, a golden cudgel, originates. The latest exploration project, which lasted from August 2015 until June this year, found the hole to be 300.89 meters deep with a 130-meter-diameter-wide entrance, said Fu Liang, head of the Sansha Ship Course Research Institute for Coral Protection, at a press conference on Friday. Supported by the Sansha City Government on south China's island province of Hainan, the institute explored the sinkhole using an underwater robot fitted with a depth sensor. Researchers from the institute have also detected more than 20 fish species and other marine organisms present in the upper levels of the sinkhole. The blue hole is almost oxygen free below 100 meters, meaning life is unlikely at its deepest extremities. The findings have been recognized by an expert panel headed by Meng Wei, a leading academic with the Chinese Academy of Engineering. A blue hole is a roughly circular sinkhole, with the name reflecting the color contrast between the dark blue inside the hole compared with the light blue water surrounding it. Prior to the new findings, the 202-meter-deep Dean's Blue Hole on Long Island in the Bahamas was considered the world's deepest known blue hole with an underwater entrance. North Sea Holes by John Doyle

02:31
From the 'Evening Comes Early' CD by John Doyle Come all you gallant fishermen that plough the stormy sea, The whole year round on the fishing ground On the Northern Minch and the Norway Deeps, Banks and knolls and the North Sea holes Where the herring shoals are found. It's there you'll find the Norfolk boys and the lads from Peterhead, There's Buckie chiels and men from Shields, On the Northern Minch and the Norway Deeps, On the banks and knolls of the North Sea Holes Where the herring shoals are found. From Fraserborough and Aberdeen, from Whitby, Yarmouth Town, The fleet's away at the break of day To the Northern Minch and the Norway Deeps, Banks and knolls of the North Sea holes Where the herring shoals are found. It's off with a boiler full of steam and your engine spic and span To fish the grounds the North Sea 'round Fish the knolls and the North Sea Holes Try your luck at the North Shields Gut With a catch of a hundred cran No need to wait for the wind and tide You're a master of the sea, Come calm or squall, just shoot and haul Fill the hold with the fish to be sold Steam ahead for the curing shed Of the Northern Minch and the Norway Deeps, Banks and knolls of the North Sea holes Where the herring shoals are found.

Holes In The Map - Sea Movies

05:47
Episode 92 http://www.korduroy.tv Sometimes unplanned trips are the way to go. Without building up our expectations, we are more willing to accept inconveniences—like getting kicked out of a makeshift camping spot in the middle of the night—as opportunities. Setting out on a last-minute trip, Jen Smith, Mele Saili and Jenna Balester only had one fixed goal: make it to Tofino, B.C. for the Queen of the Peak surf competition. In this episode of Sea Movies presented by Reef, filmmaker Hayley Gordon shows us the ladies' spontaneous strategy into the Pacific Northwest pays off with some fun waves and stunning scenery.
