Skin Care Product Safety During Pregnancy | Peels | Breastfeeding
Visit us for your Skin Care Products: https://platinumskincare.com See our blog post on Pregnancy and skin care products here: https://www.platinumskincare.com/blog/skin-care-ingredients-safety-during-pregnancy-and-breastfeeding/ There is nothing more important than protecting your unborn baby. Because of this fact, there are very few studies done on pregnant and nursing mothers. The overriding recommendation here is for you to have a conversation with your OBGYN, and follow her/his recommendations for your and the baby's health. Over the course of decades of observing and medical studies, there are a few ingredients that you need to be aware of and avoid one hundred percent throughout your pregnancy. Isotretinoin This is not RetinA - This is the oral version of Vitamin A, otherwise known as Accutane. It is used to treat acute, severe acne. It is correlated directly with malformation of the fetus, and 2 methods of birth control are encouraged during time of use to avoid accidental pregnancy. There have been many incidents of people not being told that they need to watch out for pregnancy while using this product, therefore you need to be aware. Vitamin A | Retinol | Tretinoin Topical vitamin A may be considered safe during pregnancy and lactation. However, because obstetricians are so wary of Accutane, some will recommend avoiding all vitamin A products, including topical vitamin A, during pregnancy. In this case you will want to follow your doctor’s recommendations. If you were to call in to Platinum and ask us if Retinol is safe during pregnancy, we would tell you to use our Serum 15% as an alternative during your gestation. We like to error on the side of caution here. https://www.platinumskincare.com/retinol-molecular-serums-10-20-30/ https://www.platinumskincare.com/glycolic-hyaluronic-serum-15-30/ Hydroquinone Hydroquinone is a prescription topical skin lightening ingredient. But, it fully penetrates the skin barrier, enters the circulation, and is systemically delivered. It has been estimated that within three minutes of application, 35 to 45% is systemically absorbed following topical use. Consider instead a milder option such as our Fade Bright, which has Alpha Arbutin for melanin inhibition during pregnancy. Another option for skin brightening is our High Octane Vitamin C Serum. Trichloroacetic Acid | TCA TCA peels should be avoided during gestation, as they have the potential to penetrate deeper in the skin's layers. Choose one of the hydroxy acid peels in its place until your pregnancy is completed – such as Mandelic or Glycolic. TCA has also not been studied during lactation, so it is best to avoid its use at this point as well. Though some doctors, feel it is fine to get TCA peels while breast feeding since it is not absorbed into the body. A conversation with your general practitioner will be warranted if you are deliberating over this. Alpha Hydroxy Acids Acids such as glycolic, mandelic, and lactic are known as Alpha Hydroxy Acids and salicylic is a Beta Hydroxy Acid. Systemic absorption would be minimal at best with these topical acids and they are considered safe. Certain chemical peels may be permissible during pregnancy. These include glycolic acid, lactic acid and other alpha-hydroxy acid peels such as a mandelic peel. A daily Salicylic acid toner is considered very safe, but we recommend avoiding a Salicylic Acid Peel of 15% or higher during pregnancy. The higher percentage of acid sitting on the skin could carry a potential danger. Considered Safe Most other topical products commonly used such as: benzoyl peroxide, sunblocks, and even short-term use antibiotics do not enter the blood stream and are all considered safe. Remember that most ingredients and products that you are using already are going to be considered safe. There are really just a few to be concerned about. If you find out that you are pregnant, and are using one of the dangerous products, just stop using it. Contact your doctor and have a conversation with them regarding how long the usage was. If it has only been a couple of weeks, most likely no harm was done. Breastfeeding. Nursing. Lactating. Pregnancy. Skin Care Ingredient Safety

Cosmetic products animal testing in the EU - legislation
http://www.ceway.eu This clip presents the rules and legislation regarding animal testing of cosmetic products in the EU and its development over the last few years. The regulation that covers cosmetic products animal testing is regulation 1223/2009. Cosmetic products animal testing is prohibited in the EU since 11. March 2013, and this prohibition applies to all of the products placed on the EU market -- those produced in the EU, and those imported from outside of the EU alike. The prohibition of animal testing in the EU was gradual. Initially, on the 11th September 2004, animal testing of finished cosmetic products became prohibited. In March 2009 prohibition of testing of ingredients or combinations of ingredients on animals came into force, as well as the marketing ban of cosmetic products and ingredients which have been tested on animals in order to meet the requirements of the EU cosmetics legislation. Since then only animal testing to demonstrate the safety of cosmetic products for the most complex human health effects (repeat-dose systemic toxicity, skin sensitisation, carcinogenicity, reproductive toxicity and toxicokinetics) was allowed, but even that became banned in March 2013. However, data obtained from animal testing prior to these dates can continue to be relied upon in the safety assessments of cosmetic products.
Product Development – How Product Developers affect Food Safety
Research and Development is the start point for the creation of new products, the modification of existing products and the introduction/modification of new/existing packaging. The introduction of new ingredients and packaging can be disastrous for a food company if it is not done methodically as it can lead to the introduction of new hazards into the process. Therefore, the R&D Deparrment must be in continuous communication with key stakeholders in the manufacturing side to ensure that the new introductions are not only compatible with existing processes but also that a hazard analysis is done to ensure food safety. On the other hand, keeping food safety and creativity in harmony can prove tricky as food safety considerations may change the original concept for what he development or modifications where conceived for may change to keep the consumer out of harmsway . This seminar will focus on the role of R&D in the manufacturing process and will show a practical tool to ensure that all aspects from creation to launch are taken into account when introducting new concepts into existing operations. What You Don't Know About Natural Products & Your Health
http://FriendYourBody.com | http://JustNaturalProducts.com Here's the bad news: There are literally thousands of toxic chemicals used to manufacture your standard cleaning and personal care products. And the scary part is, these harmful ingredients are not regulated by our government—there is no safety testing required and many of them DO NOT have to be labeled. Formaldehyde, lead, nitrosamines, propylene glycol, parabens, phenylenediamines, and sodium lauryl sulfate—these are just a few of the funky ingredients lurking in your household products. Your skin, your respiratory airways and your mucous membranes (i.e. mouth and nose) come into contact with these hidden ingredients every day, and they are wreaking havoc on your detoxification system. Here's the good news: There are some healthy alternatives out there! I recently had the pleasure of interviewing a woman who has developed her own naturally safe household products. Karen Girardo, the owner of Just Naturals (http://justnaturalproducts.com), in Bedford, NH took some time out of her busy day to answer some important questions about the household products you use every day and their impact on your health. Here's some of the things you'll discover in this candid interview... • The top 3 toxic products you use in your home. • Where to start when switching to natural products. • How standard household products affect your body's ability to eliminate toxins. • Some of the common autoimmune diseases that result from chemical exposure and toxic overload. • Why a product's ingredients may look "safe" and harmless, but in reality be a toxic chemical cocktail. • The dangers associated with anti-bacterial soaps, and a healthier, more natural solution. • The only 2 healthy ingredients you want in your household and personal care products • Why products that are harmful to your health are still being sold on store shelves. Share these tips for buying natural products with your friends and family by clicking the "like" button. And if you're looking for more tips on how to avoid toxins and keep your detoxification system healthy by putting together your own healthy nutrition, exercise and lifestyle plan, I urge you to check out our DIY Healthy Solutions on the Go Program (http://friendyourbody.com/DIY), which is available exclusively online. Hair products for Black women contain mix of hazardous ingredients
BBC World News interview with Silent Spring's Dr. Jessica Helm (air date: 4/30/2018). Dr. Helm discusses a new study by the institute that shows that Black women are potentially exposed to dozens of hazardous chemicals through the hair products they use. This is the first study to measure concentrations of endocrine-disrupting chemicals—substances that interfere with the body’s hormones—in a variety of hair products marketed at Black women. The findings could help researchers understand why Black women have higher exposures to hazardous chemicals than other groups and how these elevated exposures contribute to health disparities in the U.S. population. What you need to know about the Personal Care Products Safety Act and why it matters to you
The last piece of legislation governing the safety of ingredients in personal care products was written 80 years ago. Here’s why that matters to you today and one simple thing you can do about it. If any of this information disturbs you - and I hope it does - please share this message with your friends, family, and anyone you care about, and take 10 seconds to text BETTER BEAUTY to 52886 to ask your local representatives to help keep harmful ingredients linked to cancer, autoimmune diseases, infertility, endocrine and hormone imbalances, reproductive and developmental disorders, and other devastating health conditions, out of the products you use everyday. Here are links to the FDA's original safety alert and eventual recall notice of the contaminated products, along with an article that details how this all started, some further information on the Personal Care Product Safety Act, and the nonprofit I started to raise more awareness around these issues: https://www.cleanbeautyproject.org https://www.fda.gov/NewsEvents/Newsroom/PressAnnouncements/ucm632736.htm https://www.fda.gov/Cosmetics/ComplianceEnforcement/RecallsAlerts/ucm632681.htm https://www.today.com/style/claire-s-pulls-makeup-set-after-mom-finds-asbestos-t120575 https://www.vogue.com/article/are-your-beauty-products-toxic-a-new-senate-bill-aims-to-tackle-unregulated-ingredients

What is in Our Beauty Products? - Ingredients in Cosmetics Industry Documentary
When you go into a store to buy personal care products you assume the products on the shelves are safe because why would a store or company be able to sell something that isn't safe? Unfortunately, that's just not the case. The cosmetics industry is almost entirely unregulated with no product being tested for safety before it hits the shelves. If you decide to go 'green' you'll quickly realize how difficult it is to identify and recognize the ingredients in the products. You have to be a human dictionary to understand the labels. Determined to help people with this problem Lauren Evashenk started researching ingredients, developed her own natural non-toxic beauty line with easy-to-understand ingredients lists so you don't have to take her word for it. How Do You Know Which Products Are Safe? Do You Know?
Never miss another interview! Join Devin here: http://bit.ly/joindevin. Read the full Your Mark on the World article and watch the interview here: http://bit.ly/22NAzRt. Most of us give little thought to the toxins we’re exposed to every day. For the most vulnerable among us, including our children, however, the potential hazards have lifelong implications, according to Amy Ziff, founder and executive director of Made Safe. Made Safe is an organization that aims to “democratize access to products that are made with safe ingredients for everyone, matter their age, stage of life or demographic,” Amy says. The problem she sees stems from the “unrestriced and widespread use of harmful chemicals in products we use every day.” “While everyone is impacted by toxic chemicals, for the most vulnerable population of children aged zero to six, toxic exposures can impact their health and well-being for the rest of their lives. On top of that, children aren’t able to advocate for themselves for protection from potentially harmful products,” she adds. Ask yourself this question. Do you know how to spot a safe product? Can you see or smell toxins that may harm your children? Read the full Your Mark on the World article and watch the interview here: http://bit.ly/22NAzRt. Which skin care products are safe for babies? - Dr. Varsha Saxena
The child’s skin in more sensitive than the adult skin. Any kind of chemicals, fragrance, dyes, detergents in the clothes can irritate the skin of the child and cause rashes. So it is important to take care of the child’s health. Moisturizing the skin of the child helps in strengthening the skin barrier and seal the hydration. Choose moisturizers, oils for the child which are chemical free, hypoallergenic and made up of natural ingredients. Some of the products in the market are from sebamed, himalaya etc should be carefully checked before using. The child’s skin should be moisturized immediately after taking a bath. This helps in healing the hydration and moisture in the skin of the child. Use of soaps should be restricted in the child. Use soaps with neutral pH and, cintel base and do not irritate the skin. The oils used fragrance free and use of natural oils like coconut oils and olive oil is used. Some children’s skin are sensitive and they react for mosquito bites with rashes. Makeup, where does it come from? What is it made of? Why is it a 532 billion dollar problem? ☞ copy paste this in your emails and messages Dear [brand], I am your customer, and I love your products. However, I feel not enough concern is put into the safety of the ingredients you use. Please ensure the safety of your customers by refraining from using ingredients like Parabens, Synthetic colors, Phthalates, Triclosan, Sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) / Sodium laureth sulfate (SLES), Formaldehyde, Toluene, Propylene glycol, sunscreen chemicals (benzophenone, PABA, avobenzone, homosalate and ethoxycinnmate) or hiding ingredients under the title "fragrance". Moreover, it is very important to me that people working in your supply chain are seen, heard, paid properly, working in safe conditions and are not underage. I'd like more effort to be put into creating transparency in your supply chain and ensuring mica or any other ingredient isn't being mined by children. Finally, I'd like to ask you to terminate all animal testing if your company takes part in it or outsources it to private or government laboratories. Ever wondered what makeup is made of? Watch this video to separate the fact from fiction about which cosmetic ingredients you should avoid and which ones are generally harmless. Instant Cold Pack - The Chemicals Inside - Product Breakdown
See how Instant Cold Packs work! I turn one inside out to show you the parts / ingredients to explain the reaction that creates instant ice-like conditions. In the process several questions are answered: 1. Can you make your own instant ice packs? 2. How do instant ice packs work? 3. What is inside these ice packs? 4. What are the safety considerations? Hint - Warning: chemicals inside (handle with caution). For this type of project or anything similar I highly encourage you to look up safety information about products and their ingredients before you begin to open them up, tear them apart, or try to make your own. A good starting point is to find Safety Data Sheets (SDS) or Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for the brand of product and then also for the specific ingredients. In this video you see the volume of Ammonium Nitrate inside a cold pack as well as some images from the MSDS that points out some of the warnings / risks. Always wear protective gear. NEVER consume the contents! Music (Mirrorball, Traveling Man): http://www.purple-planet.com

"Mr. Little Beauty Droplet" -A short movie to introduce our safety in Shiseido-|SHISEIDO
All of the employees at Shiseido regard safety as the highest priority, and make every effort for a sense of security for consumers. Shiseido products are assured safe by assessing all the ingredients within. The ingredients have been carefully examined by various safety evaluation checks and those which have cleared the strict checking system are included in products. Only after that, the products can be delivered to customers. Furthermore, we have been developing the alternative evaluation method, and these approaches are drawing attention in the world. Through the adventure of "Mr. Little Beauty Droplet"", we will lightly introduce a part of Shiseido's strict safety assurance system. Cosmetic Safety Webinar - Who is the CIR and Updates on Federal Legislation
Cosmetics safety webinar co-hosted by Women’s Voice for the Earth and Breast Cancer Prevention Partners. Webinar reviews the report: Cosmetic Ingredient Review (CIR): Failing the Public. Failing Manufacturers. The CIR is a voluntary industry-funded scientific panel whose role is to assess the safety of ingredients used in personal care products. The report details four main reasons why the CIR cannot be trusted to protect our health from harmful ingredients in cosmetics and personal care products, like deodorant, lotions, makeup, shampoos, and feminine wipes, washes and sprays. Also on the webinar, Janet Nudelman of Breast Cancer Prevention Partners and the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics will provide the latest update on what’s happening with cosmetic safety legislation,. The federal cosmetic safety legislative landscape is crowded with 2 bills introduced in the Senate, 1 bill introduced in the House and more coming. States are busily working on legislation to require strengthened ingredient disclosure – for salon products, fragrance and chemicals linked to cancer and birth defects. Maintaining Product Quality and Safety in Food & Beverage Manufacturing
http://www.ge.com/industries/food-beverage-consumer-goods/ Two of the top three pressures identified by food and beverage manufacturers are product quality and compliance. New regulations focus on tighter control, increased documentation, and tracking of every ingredient and process in the enterprise. Leaders are more likely than their peers to use software to digitize their processes to gain better control of their manufacturing data, leading to superior production compliance and lower overall costs. The end result: leaders outperform planned margin goals by 9%. Based on the experiences of more than 170 respondents, the Aberdeen Group analyzed how leaders in the industry focus on three key areas of their operations—production efficiency, product quality and safety, and sustainability costs to succeed as a business. Listen to this excerpt from their recent study on Operational Excellence in Food and Beverage Manufacturing.
