This video is an updated version of a older discussion of the consumer buying process. Although the content is the same, the examples have been revised to provide a more thorough explanation of the process. Deciding whether to Drop a Product Line

06:48
When deciding whether to drop a product line, the only things that should be considered are the contribution margin provided by the product line and the fixed costs that could be avoided by dropping the product line. This is important because fixed costs are sometimes allocated to product lines, which can distort managerial decision-making by creating the appearance that the firm would be more profitable by dropping a product line that may appear unprofitable because it is being allocated fixed costs that would not disappear if the product line were dropped. 5 Stages of the Consumer Decision-Making Process and How it's Changed

09:06
Today, we’re going to be diving into the five stages of the consumer decision-making process. A lot has changed. How consumers go about it is completely different, but the five stages are surprisingly exactly the same. Let’s dive into what this new world looks like. Now, as a brief overview, the five stages of the consumer buying or decision-making process were established by John Dewey in 1910. That whole process is still very much the same: Stage 1: You have a problem or a need. Stage 2: They want to do an information search. It used to be ask a friend, ask a colleague, look at the newspaper — but that’s a little different now. Stage 3: Evaluation of alternatives. “I have this one option I like, but what about these others?“ Stage 4: Purchasing decision. “I have to make a decision. Which will I purchase?“ Stage 5: The post-purchase evaluation. “Was this the right decision for me or did I make a mistake?“ Thank you so much for watching this video. If you can understand the 5 stages of the consumer decision-making process in the new context of search engines and how people are now discovering information, then you can empower your marketing and have successful campaigns that generate terrific return. Well, it takes a lot of time and significant energy to build and optimize a distribution channel. And we have to consider several factors that will influence our decision. The best distribution channel is the one that: Delivers a product that customers want. Delivers a product where customers want it. And allows customers to have the product at the right time. A product must be positioned where its target customers are likely to find it. A great-looking store, with prepared sales personnel, and optimal product placing can have a huge impact on sales. Great distribution channels deliver products at the right time. Nobody likes it when an item is out of stock or when there is a long waiting period for its delivery. Companies want to be efficient with the inventory they keep as it represents a cost. An optimized logistics flow can be beneficial for both customers and producers.

Whether we talk about goods or services, we can say, usually, people are not just buying a product that solves one of their basic needs. They acquire the benefits and satisfaction they believe they’ll obtain from the product. They are interested in symbols and ideas that help them relate the product to a desired lifestyle and positive expectations about the future. Customers do not simply buy products because they satisfy their needs. Instead, they are interested in becoming clients of firms that offer them a complete product concept – an idea or a promise, if you will. The best products make people happier and create a positive expectation before being consumed.

Joint Product Costs and the Splitoff Point

07:02
This video introduces the concept of joint costs and the splitoff point in managerial accounting. Joint products refer to two or more products that are produced from the same input. The point at which the raw product is transformed into multiple joint products is known as the splitoff point. (Note: a product with a relatively low sales value may be referred to as a by-product rather than a joint product) Costs incurred prior to the splitoff point are known as joint costs. Joint costs are commonly allocated to the individual joint products (using the relative sales method, physical unit method, or Net Realizeable Value method) for purposes of computing Cost of Goods Sold. However, joint costs are not relevant when deciding what to do with a product after the splitoff point has been reached (for example, in a sell-or-process further decision). After the splitoff point has been reached, joint costs have already been incurred-- thus, managers should only consider the incremental costs and revenues. The Steps in Consumer Buying Decision Process

04:01
This video is explained about how consumers make buying decision. There are five steps of buying decisions process which is consist of problem recognition, information search, evaluation alternatives, purchase decision and post purchase evaluation. The first step is problem recognition. During this step, the consumer realizes that he has a problem of transportation go to work where required him to use public transport. From that situation, he always late goes to work, untidy and not perform well. So he got an idea to purchase a car to solve his problem. The second step, he starts search information about the car that he interested through website and asks from referrals. He wants a car that affordable price, eco-friendly and compact. He asks his neighbour opinion which types of car that suitable for him. Then his neighbour suggests buying hatchback car because the car is fulfils his wants and desires. The third step, he evaluates the information that he gets and starts thinking to choose which is suitable for him. He narrows down his choices based on price, comfort and fuel efficiency. He decided to buy a hatchback car rather than sedan car since it is more suit with his criteria. The fourth step is purchase decision where he buys the car that he chooses. He never faces a problem and feels joyful with his car. The fifth step is post-purchase evaluation to know how the customer feels about a purchase will significantly influence whether he will purchase the product again or consider other products. In conclusion, If the consumer expectation and perceived product performance more than satisfaction they will share positive perception with others but If the consumer expectation and perceived product performance below than satisfaction they will share negative perception about the brand and influence others. Thus, customer satisfaction will lead to a repeat purchase, favourable word of mouth and less attention to competitor product that reaping customer lifetime value.

Did a catchy ad grab their attention? Consumers are constantly evolving in their buying behavior based on their life situations. Consumer behavior is the process consumers go through when they make purchases and it involves factors that influence their decision and usage. The consumer decision-making process involves five steps that consumers move through when buying a good or service. A marketer has to understand these steps in order to properly move the consumer to the product and close the sale. Consumer Decision-Making Process The consumer decision-making process consists of five steps, which are need recognition, information search, evaluations of alternatives, purchase and post-purchase behavior. These steps can be a guide for marketers to understand and communicate effectively to consumers. One note is that consumers do not always move in the exact order through the process; it can depend on the type of product, the buying stage of the consumer and even financial status.
