I decided to go to Massimo Dutti, which is a brand by the same owner as Zara. It it more expensive than Zara but less so than shops such as Whistles. They have beautiful fabrics and have an excellent colour selection at the moment... How ZARA Took Over The Fashion World

But one of the richest men in the world has made his fortune through the most traditional business you can think about - selling clothes. In fact, in the summer of 2017, the shares of his company soared and for a couple of hours and he held the title of the richest man in the world. But Gates claimed back his position later on the same day. Without any formal education except for the first few years in school, he has built the largest clothing company in the entire world. It all started in Spain. Back then child labor was normal. So Amancio left school at the age of 13 to start working as a delivery boy in a local shirtmaker shop. Where he learned to make clothes by hand. He loved his job and started excelling at it, so much that by the time he was 24, he was appointed as a manager. Not bad for the 1960s, right? Ortega realized that only the wealthy residents could afford their clothes so he started working on his own designs that are more affordable. He started producing pretty similar designs but at a much lower cost targeting the rest of the residents. His strategy work out and he successfully sold all of his designs and used the earnings to open his first factory in 1963 Finally, in 1975, he decided to establish his own brand and named Zara. Zara’s strategy was absolutely simple, sell quality products for a reasonable price so that everyone could afford them. This strategy seems so obvious, why others didn't use it. When Ortega was working in that shirtmaker store. He realized that how the cost of the garments significantly increase when they move from designers to factories to stores. He learned the importance of delivering products directly to consumers without third-party distributors. So Zara started doing everything by itself. This reducing the cost But Ortego’s ambitions didn't stop there, it was time to go international. He established his first store outside Spanish borders in Portugal, in 1988. And a year later In New York. And since then the company has been unstoppable. Ortega realized he can't target all the segments of the market through Zara. So he acquired many different brands such as Pull&Bear, Bershka, Massimo Dutti and so on. And formed them all under a holding company - Inditex. But Zara is the biggest of them, it accounts for over 60% of total sales. Unlike other brands, Zara didn't waste money on advertisements. It knew that as long as there are quality clothes for affordable prices, people are going to buy them, so they kept opening new stores instead. By the year 2000, Zara had stores all around North America and Europe. So it was time to invade Asia and the rest of the world. Inditex has over 7000 stores now. What also sets them apart is that, since everything is done in-house. Zara can design a product and get them into stores in less 2 weeks compare to 6 month which is industry average. Ortega followed just in time production strategy. That means they made their supply chain so effective that they could supply their stores in less than 48 hours. Which means, they don't need to order more than they need and if something is selling too good. They know that they can have it back on the shelves in 48 hours. That provided Zara with absolutely unique advantage. This incredible success story started with a 13-year-old kid who simply had a dream and didn't have any formal education. It seems like nothing is impossible as long as you are patient, dedicated and hard working. 10 Famous Founders Who Don’t Usually Show Their Faces
Some founders of world-famous brand prefer to stay out of the spotlight and keep themselves a secret. We decided to unveil the mystery and show you the 10 founders of super famous brands producing things you sure use every now and then. Howard Schulz, founder of Starbucks, was inspired by the atmosphere of Italian espresso bars and it’s safe to say that he was the one who made the espresso-based beverages popular in the US. Now you can find a Starbucks almost anywhere in the world. Amancio started his business in the ’70s: He made nightgowns and bathrobes with his wife right in their living room. Once, their German partner declined a huge order and the spouses decided to sell clothes on their own. Later, the company was renamed to Inditex and opened new clothing stores: Massimo Dutti, Pull and Bear, Oysho, Zara Home, Uterqüe, Stradivarius, Lefties, and Bershka. In 2000, the famous Pandora charm bracelet was created: buyers were able to create jewelry of their own design by putting the charms they wanted on the bracelet. Since then, the company has been growing and the Enevoldsen family are one of the richest people in Denmark. In 1969, the musicians from The Doors were recording the album Morrison Hotel. At about the same time, they accidentally came across a diner named Hard Rock Cafe, and their album was exactly in this music style. They made a few pictures in this cafe and then put the photos on the back side of the album cover. A year later, 2 Englishmen called them — Isaac Tigrett and Peter Morton and asked them to let them open a cafe in London named Hard Rock Cafe. At the beginning of the 1930s, Ole Kirk opened a company that made ironing boards and ladders, but he soon started making wooden toys. The word “Lego” consists of 2 Danish words: “leg” (play) and “godt” (good). You work way to hard to waste your money on overpriced items and clothing. Alpha gives his opinion about seven clothing brands that are over-priced, over-rated, a waste of money, and the quality does not equal the price. Alpha's 'Don't Waste Your Money' List 1. Jos A. Bank - nothing in that joint is worth the price you'll pay 2. Men's Warehouse - the quality is sub-par quality and the style is 'eh' 3. Armani - single most overpriced brand due to the nosedive in quality (note: Alpha loves Suitsupply) 4. Diesel - they make pretty much everything, but each costs a small fortune to buy 5. Lacoste - you'll be spending a lot for a little alligator 6. Ralph Lauren Polo - paying a lot for a little pony 7. Abercrombie - it's the Banana Republic of pricing for young people's clothing; it's a cheaper option but the same quality as Hollister, American Eagle, and Aeropostale. H&M, Zara, and Forever 21 have cheap quality clothing that's affordable (look stylish without spending a ton of money).

Try On Sales Haul Part 1 I Stefanel, Massimo Dutti, Imperial, Milano shopping I Ver
Whoop Whoop! Sales are here! I And living in the fashion capital - let's say my bank account is not doing the same happy sounds as me😎 This time I did some damage to my wallet, but luckily..she's already used to it. We actually decided it's best for us to separate our ways, so now I'm using cardholder. This one also complains, so not really a great choice. Look, when the sales start we both know how it is - even though your closet is already full, you'll find a reason why to by something new, right? No? Only me? I knew I was unique😏 I started with an Italian store Imperial that has lately been on my radar, but the regular prices were - let's say the radar was red. But now, that we have sales - I go into action. And I continue in the next store I usually stay away from - Stefanel. Once I'm sure I feel good, I continue to the next one - Massimo Dutti. Now.. we can stop - that's what crossed my mind. But passed. So I continued - and now I had to do sales haul in two-part. Yep. Enjoy Ver Cuss

Zara (retailer)
Zara (Spanish: [ˈθaɾa]) is a Spanish clothing and accessories retailer based in Arteixo, Galicia, and founded in 1975 by Amancio Ortega and Rosalía Mera. It is the flagship chain store of the Inditex group, The world's largest apparel retailer, the fashion group also owns brands such as Massimo Dutti, Pull and Bear, Uterqüe, Stradivarius and Bershka. It is claimed that Zara needs just two weeks to develop a new product and get it to stores, compared to the six-month industry average, and launches around 10,000 new designs each year. Zara has resisted the industry-wide trend towards transferring fast fashion production to low-cost countries. Perhaps its most unusual strategy was its policy of zero advertising; the company preferred to invest a percentage of revenues in opening new stores instead. This has increased the idea of Zara as a "fashion imitator" company and low cost products. Lack of advertisement is also in contrast to direct competitors such as Uniqlo and United Colors of Benetton. This video is targeted to blind users. Which brands are “fast fashion”? How to tell (in 4 points) ǀ Justine Leconte
Fast fashion means that the brands produce in countries where labor is very cheap because the laws don't protect the garment workers. The clothes produced are of poor quality and execution, and they get sold at incredibly cheap prices in "rich countries". Since they are trendy in design, they will get out of fashion quite quickly. In fact, fast fashion brands even release new collections every 2 weeks, to make clothes previously purchased... obsolete. How to tell if a brand is "fast fashion": 1. Look at the brands producing in countries and factories where accidents happen. These brands clearly don't care about where and how their clothes get produced... 2. Research to which larger corporations these brands belong. It is very likely that a huge corporation like Inditex (Zara, Mango...) uses similar production methods for all its brands. 3. Understand the mindset of the brands / corporations that belong to the fast fashion industry: if they outsource their productions to countries where labor rights aren't respected, it is probably not to be charitable. Then claiming to use organic cotton (as an example of PR action) just can't make it up for ethically questionable practices. 4. Learn the break down of a price tag. If a Primark t-shirt costs 5€ in retail, how much of that actually goes to the garment worker? Thumbs up if you liked this video :-) If you subscribe to this channel and click on the bell, you will be notified when a new video goes live! The world's biggest fashion retailer, Inditex, is to speed up its investment this year to open more new shops. That news came as the owner of Zara, Massimo Dutti, Bershka and Stradivarius announced its results last year were hit by the falling value of currencies outside the eurozone. It also had to carry the cost of revamping its flagship stores. Core annual profit in the 12 months up to the end of January was flat at 3.9 billion euros, which was in line with analysts' expectations It is th... Zara and Tommy Hilfiger stores at Select CityWalk: Indian retail story
Zara is a Spanish clothing and accessories retailer based in Arteixo, Galicia, and founded in 1975 by Amancio Ortega and Rosalía Mera. It is the flagship chain store of the Inditex group; the fashion group also owns brands such as Massimo Dutti, Pull and Bear, Uterqüe, Stradivarius and Bershka. It is claimed that Zara needs just two weeks to develop a new product and get it to stores, compared to the six-month industry average, and launches around 10,000 new designs each year. Zara has resisted the industry-wide trend towards transferring fast fashion production to low-cost countries. Perhaps it's most unusual strategy was its policy of zero advertising; the company preferred to invest a percentage of revenues in opening new stores instead. This has increased the idea of Zara as a "fashion imitator" company and low cost products. Lack of advertisement is also in contrast to direct competitors such as Uniqlo and United Colors of Benetton. Zara was described by Louis Vuitton Fashion Director Daniel Piette as "possibly the most innovative and devastating retailer in the world." Zara has also been described as a "Spanish success story" by CNN. As of 2007, Zara stores have men's clothing and women's clothing, each of these subdivided in Lower Garment, Upper Garment, Shoes, Cosmetics and Complements, as well as children's clothing (Zara Kids). Currently their sizing on women's clothing goes to a US size 12 or a UK size 14 or extra large. Tommy Hilfiger, under the leadership of founder Tommy Hilfiger and Chief Executive Officer Fred Gehring is a brand distributed in over 90 countries and is one of the worlds leading designer lifestyle brands. Tommy Hilfiger's "classic American cool" lifestyle delivers "preppy with a twist" designs that appeal to a diverse range of consumers globally, as does its accessible, premium position. Tommy Hilfiger offers a wide range of high quality apparel, accessories and lifestyle products and the brand enjoys strong global brand awareness. Tommy Hilfiger sells products under two principal brands called Tommy Hilfiger- which is targeted at the 25 to 45 year old consumer and Hilfiger Denim- which is targeted at the 20 to 35 year old consumer. Tommy Hilfiger product include sportswear for men, women and children; footwear; athletic apparel ; bodywear; eyewear; sunwear; watches; handbags; men's tailored clothing; men's dress furnishings; accessories, socks, small leather goods; fragrances; home and bedding products; bathroom accessories and luggage. The Hilfiger Denim product line consists of Jeanswear and footwear for men and women; bags; accessories; eyewear and fragrance and is positioned as being more "fashion forward" and casual than the Tommy Hilfiger label. Zara India Zara to begin e-sales in India from October 4
Fast fashion brand Zara is all set to begin its online sales in India, one of the world’s fastest growing ecommerce markets, beginning from October 4. This is in line with the ongoing international expansion of its integrated store model. Spanish based retailer will be selling its products throughout the country via website and mobile application. Zara has more than 2,200 stores in 93 countries and is the flagship brand of the Spanish multinational Inditex Group. The range found in all the 21 stores of Zara across eight Indian cities will be available online for selling, said Echevarria Hernandez, chief communication officer of Inditex, said in a statement. In a span of 2-4 working days, the deliveries will be made to metro cities including Mumbai, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad and Bangalore, while for the remaining areas, it will take around 5-8 working days. For effective delivery system, Zara has joined hands with Gati Ltd, Delhivery Pvt. Ltd and Blue Dart Express Ltd. The standard delivery charges for orders worth less than Rs 4,000 will be Rs 299, with exchange and return for free, the company said in a statement. For better working of the online service, Zara will work with a warehouse in Delhi with around 50 employees. Zara emerged as one of the fast growing lifestyle apparel brands in India and reported sales of Rs 842 crore in fiscal 2016, up 17 per cent over fiscal 2015. (RR) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MADRID (Reuters) - Inditex (ITX.MC), the world’s biggest clothing retailer and owner of Zara, used its “fast fashion” model to adapt to warmer than usual autumn weather, speeding up its sales growth in recent weeks and staying ahead of slower-moving rivals. Unlike the Spanish firm, Abercrombie & Fitch (ANF.N) and Gap (GPS.N) posted dismal fourth-quarter sales last month. Inditex reacts to changing fashion trends and weather by keeping its manufacturing bases close to its distribution centre in Galicia, northern Spain. Items are designed, made and shipped to stores often in less than a month, boosting profitability. Net profit for the nine months to the end of October was up 9 percent from the year before at 2.2 billion euros (1.81 billion pound), in line with analysts’ forecasts, as garments such as velvet dresses, military blazers and mini skirts helped push Inditex sales up by 14.5 percent in local currency terms. With more than 7,200 stores in 93 markets, Inditex has shifted from multiple new store openings to setting up large flagship stores in key locations and tying in its online business instead. Apart from Zara, which makes up two thirds of sales, its brands include younger fashion chain Pull&Bear and upmarket label Massimo Dutti. Other retailers have been trying to speed up their supply chain to match Inditex but are held back by their sourcing from Asia, stretching lead times. They have also started investing in new higher-margin brands. But Inditex has matched them and has scope to expand further. Analysts at Macquarie say it has only a 2 percent share of a “highly fragmented” global market and they expect it to grow quickly in emerging markets and the United States.

How reclusive Spanish founder of fashion chain Zara has amassed a fortune of $79.5billion.
The railworker’s son who is now the world’s richest man: How reclusive Spanish founder of fashion chain Zara has amassed a fortune of $79.5billion – and is set to hand over his empire to his glamorous daughter. The Spanish founder of the Zara fashion chain has overtaken Bill Gates to become the world's richest man. Amancio Ortega's personal fortune leapt by $1.7billion this week to $79.5billion - taking the Inditex owner past the Microsoft co-founder's estimated $78.5billion. Already Europe's richest man, the 80-year-old - whose glamorous daughter Marta is expected to take over management of the business - now tops the global list. Marta, 31, has undergone training at the firm, including stacking shelves when she was younger. Despite rumours that she is due to succeed her father, Inditex - parent company to Zara, Massimo Dutti and Pull&Bear - will not confirm her as successor. Forbes reported that Ortega became the world's richest man on Wednesday when Inditex shares went up 2.5 per cent. He now has a larger net worth than US investor Warren Buffett and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos. It is not the first time Ortega has topped the list. He was briefly ahead of Bill Gates in October before a surge in Microsoft shares put him back in second place. The son of a railway worker from La Coruna in Spain, Ortega transformed clothing group Inditex from a tiny family dressmaker into Spain's biggest company. He has turned Zara into a byword in chic for the money-conscious, transforming the apparel business with its'fast fashion' model. Affordable imitations of catwalk designscan move from drawing board to store within two weeks, and poor sellers are pulled off the shop floor even quicker. In Madrid, he owns No. 32 on the Spanish capital's main shopping drag Gran Via. The Art Deco building, built as one of the city's first grand-scale department stores in the 1920s, now houses biggest store in Spain for arch-rival Primark. In February, Ortega made his first foray into Asia, buying a 22-storey plaza in Myeongdong, Seoul's trendy shopping district.

Cold weather hits Inditex profits - corporate
Spanish clothing firm Inditex - the owner of Zara - has posted its weakest quarterly growth in net... euronews, the most watched news channel in Europe Subscribe for your daily dose of international news, curated and explained:http://eurone.ws/10ZCK4a Euronews is available in 13 other languages: http://eurone.ws/17moBCU http://www.euronews.com/2013/06/12/cold-weather-hits-inditex-profits Spanish clothing firm Inditex - the owner of Zara - has posted its weakest quarterly growth in net profit in four years, It blames cold weather in recession-weary Europe which meant fewer buyers for its spring collection. The group, whose brands include Bershka for teems and upmarket label Massimo Dutti, said its net profit was up two percent at 438 million euros and sales rose 5.2 percent, which means they were flat on a like-for-like basis. Rival H & M, which gets 80 percent of sales from Europe, suffered similarly according to its May figures with sales unchanged. The Swedish firm - which is due to publish full quarterly results on June 19 - has also seen margins fall due to currency swings and long-term investments. Global leader Inditex has outpaced rivals in recent years with aggressive expansion into markets like China and Russia to sharply reduce exposure to its struggling home market Spain.
