"The Cover of 'Rolling Stone'" is a song written by Shel Silverstein and first recorded by American rock group Dr. Hook & the Medicine Show. Produced by Ron Haffkine and released in 1972, it was the band's third single and peaked at No. 6 on the U.S. pop chart for two weeks on March 17–24, 1973. Lyrics: [Talking] Ha ha ha, I don't believe it Da, da, ah, ah don't touch it Hey, Ray, hey, Sugar, tell them who we are... Well, we're big rock singers We got golden fingers And we're loved everywhere we go...(That sounds like us) We sing about beauty and we sing about truth At ten thousand dollars a show...(Right) We take all kinds of pills that give us all kind of thrills But the thrill we've never known Is the thrill that'll getcha when you get your picture On the cover of the Rollin' Stone (Rollin' Stone...) Wanna see my picture on the cover (Stone...) Wanna buy five copies for my mother...(Yes) (Stone...) Wanna see my smilin' face On the cover of the Rollin' Stone...(That's a very very good idea) I got a freaky ole lady name a Cocaine Katy Who embroiders on my jeans I got my poor ole grey haired daddy Drivin' my limousine Now it's all designed to blow our minds But our minds won't really be blown Like the blow that'll gitcha when you get your picture On the cover of the Rollin' Stone (Rollin' Stone...) Wanna see our pictures on the cover (Stone...) Wanna buy five copies for our mothers...(Yeah) (Stone...) Wanna see my smilin face On the cover of the Rollin' Stone [Talking] Hey, I know how Rock and roll... [Instrumental] Ah, that's beautiful We got a lot of little teenage blue eyed groupies Who do anything we say We got a genu-wine Indian Guru Who's teaching us a better way We got all the friends that money can buy So we never have to be alone And we keep gettin' richer but we can't get our picture On the cover of the Rollin' Stone (Rollin' Stone...) Wanna see my picture on the cover (Stone...) Wanna buy five copies for my mother...(Wa wa) (Stone...) Wanna see my smilin' face On the cover of the Rollin' Stone On the cover of the Rollin'... (Stone...) Wanna see my picture on the cover [Talking] I don't know why we ain't on the cover, baby... (Stone...) Wanna buy five copies for my mother [Talking] We're beautiful subjects... (Stone...) Wanna see my smilin' face [Talking] I ain't kiddin', we would make a beautiful cover... On the cover of the Rollin' Stone... [Talking] Fresh shot, right up front, man... I can see it now, we'll be up in the front... Smilin', man... Ahh, beautiful...

The Rolling Stone Magazine 500 Greatest Songs of All Time (1-100)

04:18
The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time was the cover story of a special issue of Rolling Stone magazine published in November 2004, The song list was chosen based on votes by 172 musicians, critics, and music industry figures. With 23 songs on the list, The Beatles are the most represented musical act. John Lennon is the only artist to place multiple songs in the top 10 (as a member of the Beatles and as a solo artist). The Beatles are followed by The Rolling Stones (14 entries); Bob Dylan (12); Elvis Presley (11); The Beach Boys and Jimi Hendrix (seven each); and Chuck Berry, U2, James Brown, Prince, Led Zeppelin and Sly & the Family Stone (six each). The list includes just one song not in English ("La Bamba" by Ritchie Valens) and only three songs from the 21st century.the oldest song is "Rollin' Stone" by Muddy Waters The most recent is OutKast's 2003 hit "Hey Ya!" (#180). To make videos of the five parts of this list, I've decided to play only the name of each song - whenever it's possible - (thanks for the idea Mcguffin !), so it's pretty fast, the other videos you've already seen on Youtube (who are not by me) are from the German version of the magazine, but here's the official list. Keith Richards on Drug Use and the Rolling Stones

02:29
Complete video at: http://fora.tv/2010/10/29/Stones_Guitarist_Keith_Richards_Talks_About_Life Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards discusses his personal history with heroin and other hard drugs. "Getting in is easy, getting out is difficult," says Richards. "It took me a while." ----- Outlaw, hellraiser, and one of rock music's most gifted and influential guitarists, Keith Richards has forged a life that most of us can only imagine--and often envy. Amazingly he's lived to tell about it, and now this rock Icon has given us the definitive rock autobiography. In Life, the man himself tells about life lived fast and hard in the creative hurricane--from his days as a young boy growing up in a council estate, listening obsessively to Chuck Berry and Muddy Waters records, to joining forces with Mick Jagger and Brian Jones to form The Rolling Stones. In conversation with Anthony DeCurtis, a music journalist, and contributing editor for Rolling Stone, Keith Richards will discuss the storied journey of the Rolling Stones, as well as his passion for books and for history. He will chronicle how he created the revolutionary, high-octane riffs that defined "Jumping Jack Flash," "Gimme Shelter" and "Honky Tonk Woman," his affair with the equally infamous Anita Pallenberg (the mother of three of his children), and the tragic death of Brian Jones. He will also discuss the personal values that have made him a proud, successful father, and a happily married man for more than twenty-five years. From falling in love with his wife Patti Hansen to his relationship with his "brother," Mick Jagger, we follow Keef on the ultimate road trip we have all longed to know more about-- the story of an unfettered, fearless, on-the-edge life lived to the absolute fullest. - NYPL Keith Richards is a guitarist, singer-songwriter, record producer, best-selling author and actor, best known as a founding member of the Rolling Stones. As a guitarist, Richards is known for his innovative rhythm playing and ranked 10th in Rolling Stone magazine's 2003 "Rolling Stone's 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time." With songwriting partner and Rolling Stones lead vocalist Mick Jagger, Richards has written and recorded hundreds of songs, fourteen of which are listed by Rolling Stone magazine among the "500 Greatest Songs of All Time."

The Rolling Stones. (Interview) With Brian Jones

08:33
The Rolling Stones are an English rock band, formed in 1962 in London when multi-instrumentalist Brian Jones and pianist Ian Stewart were joined by vocalist Mick Jagger and guitarist Keith Richards, they named their band after an influential "Rollin' Stone" song by Muddy Waters. Bassist Bill Wyman and drummer Charlie Watts completed the early lineup. Stewart, deemed unsuitable as a teen idol, was removed from the official lineup in 1963 but continued to work with the band as road manager and keyboardist until his death in 1985. Early in the band's history Jagger and Richards formed a songwriting partnership and gradually took over leadership of the band from the increasingly troubled and erratic Jones. At first the group recorded mainly covers of American blues and R&B songs, but since the 1966 album Aftermath, their releases have mainly featured Jagger/Richards songs. Mick Taylor replaced an incapacitated Jones shortly before Jones's death in 1969. Taylor quit in 1974, and was replaced in 1975 by Faces guitarist Ronnie Wood, who has remained with the band ever since. Wyman left the Rolling Stones in 1992; bassist Darryl Jones, who is not an official band member, has worked with the group since 1994. First popular in the UK, The Rolling Stones toured the US repeatedly during the early 1960s "British Invasion". The Rolling Stones have released 22 studio albums in the UK (24 in the US), eight concert albums (nine in the US) and numerous compilations; and have album sales estimated at more than 200 million worldwide. Sticky Fingers (1971) began a string of eight consecutive studio albums that charted at number one in the United States. Their latest album, A Bigger Bang, was released in 2005. In 1989 The Rolling Stones were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and in 2004 they were ranked number 4 in Rolling Stone magazine's 100 Greatest Artists of All Time. In 2008, Billboard magazine ranked The Rolling Stones at number ten on "The Billboard Hot 100 Top All-Time Artists", making them as the second most successful group in the history of Billboard Hot 100 chart. Rolling Stones, Angie, Angie When will those clouds all disappear? Angie, Angie Where will it lead us from here? With no lovin' in our souls and no money in our coats You can't say we're satisfied But Angie, Angie You can't say we never tried Angie, you're beautiful But I hate that sadness in your eyes Angie, I still love you baby Remember all those nights we cried All the dreams we held so close Seemed to all go up in smoke Let me whisper in your ear Angie, Angie Where will it lead us from here? Yeah All the dreams we held so close Seemed to all go up in smoke Hate that sadness in your eyes But Angie, I still love you baby Everywhere I look I see your eyes There ain't a woman that comes close to you Come on baby dry your eyes But Angie, Angie Ain't it good to be alive Angie, Angie, you can't say we never tried.

THE ROLLING STONES - WAITING ON A FRIEND - Tattoo You (1981) HiDef :: SOTW #68

Bergo '45 Song of the Week #68 - Dwight's Pick for 10/19/14: http://www.bergo45.com "Waiting On A Friend" by The Rolling Stones from Tattoo You (1981) Rolling Stones Records "You must have something known as Mojo to write a song this fine, and then bury it at the bottom of the album. Track #11...only Mick and Keith..." - Dwight Lewis This is a weekly dive into the musical mind of Bergo '45. Each week, a new song is chosen by a different member of the band. Check out the playlist to see all of the past selections. Grab a towel and give it a listen.... The Rolling Stones are an English rock band formed at Dartford, Kent in 1962. The first stable line-up consisted of band leader Brian Jones (guitar, harmonica), Ian Stewart (piano), Mick Jagger (lead vocals, harmonica), Keith Richards (guitar), Bill Wyman (bass), and Charlie Watts (drums). The Rolling Stones were in the vanguard of the British Invasion of the US in 1964 and 1965. At first noted for their long hair as much as their music, the band are identified with the youthful and rebellious counterculture of the 1960s. They were instrumental in making blues a major part of rock and roll, and for changing the international focus of blues culture to the less sophisticated blues typified by Chess Records artists. These included Muddy Waters, writer of "Rollin' Stone", the song that inspired the band's name. Their first single, "Come On" was released on June 1963 and reached number 21 in the UK hit parade. After seven successful albums, a period of musical experimentation culminated in the poorly received and largely psychedelic album, Their Satanic Majesties Request (1967). But the group returned to their bluesy roots with Beggars' Banquet (1968), Let It Bleed (1969), Sticky Fingers (1971), and Exile on Main St. (1972) which are considered to be the band's best work from their "Golden Age". Musicologist Robert Palmer attributed the "remarkable endurance" of the Rolling Stones to being "rooted in traditional verities, in rhythm-and-blues and soul music" while "more ephemeral pop fashions have come and gone". Jones first led the band, but his drug problem caused his demise and, after teaming as the band's songwriters, Jagger and Richards became de facto leaders. Jones left the band a month before his death in 1969, having already been replaced by Mick Taylor, who left in 1975. Since then Ronnie Wood has played guitar along with Keith Richards. Following Wyman's departure in 1993, Darryl Jones has been the main bassist. Stewart was removed from the official line-up in 1963 but continued as occasional pianist until his death in 1985. Other notable keyboardists for the band have included Nicky Hopkins, active from 1967 to 1982; Billy Preston through the mid 1970s (most prominent on Black and Blue); and Chuck Leavell, active since 1982. The Rolling Stones continued to release hit singles and albums through the 1970s, Some Girls (1978) and Tattoo You (1981) being their two most sold albums worldwide. In the 1980s, a feud between Jagger and Richards about the band's musical direction was patch up and the band made a come back with the hit album, Steel Wheels (1989). In the band's tradition the album was supported by big stadium and arena tours, a tradition continued through the 1990s and 2000s. During this period the band made the four highest-grossing concert tours to date: (Voodoo Lounge Tour (1994–95), Bridges to Babylon Tour (1997–99), Licks Tour (2002–03), A Bigger Bang Tour (2005–07)). The Rolling Stones were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1989, and the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2004. Rolling Stone magazine ranked them fourth on the "100 Greatest Artists of All Time" list, and their estimated album sales are above 250 million. They have released twenty-nine studio albums, eighteen live albums and numerous compilations. Let It Bleed (1969) was their first of five consecutive number one studio and Live albums in the UK. Sticky Fingers (1971) was the first of eight consecutive number one studio albums in the US. In 2008 the band ranked 10th on the "Billboard Hot 100 All-Time Top Artists" chart. In 2012, the band celebrated their 50th anniversary. All rights belong to their respective owners © Rolling Stones Records

Manson portrayed a psychotic drag queen named Christina in the movie Party Monster which is based on the events leading up to and the murder of Angel Melendez by the infamous Michael Alig of club kid fame. He is featured prominently throughout Not Another Teen Movie, and covered the song Tainted Love for that movie. His music is frequently featured on the show C.S.I.. The character on the show, Greg Sanders, is a big fan of Manson and the actor who plays him, Eric Szmanda is personal friends with Manson. Manson was featured in the 2004 film The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things, and is set to appear in Abelcain, directed by Alejandro Jodorowsky, and Living Neon Dreams in 2005. He will also be seen as a bartender in an upcoming vampire movie starring Lucy Liu called Rise. In July 2005, Manson told Rolling Stone Magazine that he was shifting his focus from music to filmmaking - "I just don't think the world is worth putting music into right now. I no longer want to make art that other people--particularly record companies--are turning into a product. I just want to make art." He is currently working on his directorial debut, Phantasmagoria: The Visions of Lewis Carroll, which was put on his website around the end of 2006. The film is said to feature special effects using a magician rather than computer-generated imagery.[10] In art Manson is also a watercolor painter. An exhibit for his art was held at Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions on September 13, September 14, 2002 and also at the Hotel Lutecia, Paris on September 14, 2004 and the next day in Berlin. He contributed a piece to the West Memphis Three benefit exhibition at six spaces. Many of his paintings have sold for over $5,000; buyers include Jack Osbourne, Nicolas Cage, Dave Navarro, Andy Dick and Lisa Marie Presley. He has stated that a new book containing all his pieces of art work will be released in the near future, possibly 2006.[citation needed] Manson opened his own gallery October 31, 2006 in Los Angeles. The gallery, The Celebritarian Corp. Gallery of Fine Art, opened with a showing of Manson's watercolors. [11] In other areas Manson provided the voice of the alien Edgar in the 2005 first-person shooter videpurpose of autofellatio. "If I really got my ribs removed," he said in his autobiography[25], "I would have been busy
