Hollywood Boulevard Travel Tips: 10 Things to Know Before You Go

08:08
10 things you must know before you travel to Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles, California. First off, Hollywood Boulevard is definitely not as nice as you think it is. The idealized Hollywood in your head is most certainly better than the real Hollywood. You've seen it on TV for the Oscars, and it's all decked out and amazing. The real Hollywood blvd is filled with shady businesses, crumby souvenir stands, and panhandling “entertainers” who will attempt to shake you down for a photo with them. Hollywood is also huge! There are so many hidden gems in the city, but most of what you’ll find in this immediate location is catered to tourists. Watch more of Ernest on the Trip Astute channel: https://www.youtube.com/c/TripAstute Watch our "10 Things to Do in Hollywood" here: https://youtu.be/_kD0SL9JqZE 2. Parking: Street Parking (Meter Prices -- but watch out!) Expensive Pay Parking Lots My favorite: garage at Hollywood & Highland, which is a mall that includes Chinese and Dolby Theaters. With validation (available with a purchase at shops in the mall), you get 2 hours for $2 or 4 hours for $2 with validation from the Chinese Theater. Daily max of $17 US Highway 101 provides the easiest access via the Highland Avenue exit south. This is also a great place to have a quick meal. There are several restaurants hidden away in this area where you can get a fast and affordable meal away from some of the more touristy restaurants on the main street. 3. Subway Yes, Los Angeles has a subway, and it’s one of the best ways to get to Hollywood, the LA Metro Red Line has 3 stops along Hollywood boulevard. And it’s cheap, only $1.75 per ride, any distance! Hollywood & Western, Hollywood & Vine Hollywood & Highland (Which is the best stop to start at) And it also stops at Universal Studios Hollywood, which isn’t in Hollywood at all! 4. Photos with Street Performers They aren’t there out of the kindness of their hearts, if you take a picture with them, or of them, they’ll expect some money. And sometimes be forceful about it. I’m not telling you not to take a picture with them… just know it’s going to cost you. 5. Food It all is pretty mediocre on Hollywood boulevard, and overpriced. If you want “cheap”, best options are the food court at the top of Hollywood and Highland mall, I like Poknomitry, or there’s an In-N-Out burger a block over on Sunset. If you want better sit-down eats, get off Hollywood blvd, head over to West Hollywood. 6. Making Movies They don’t make them here anymore… most movie making in LA happens in Burbank, which is North of Hollywood. If you are looking for the “movie studio” experience, check out the Warner Brothers Studio Tour, and Paramount Pictures Studio Tour, or Universal Studios Hollywood theme park for their Studio Tour. None of these are near Hollywood boulevard. You can take the subway to Universal Studios Hollywood though. If you want to take a tour of the Dolby Theatre, head to their box office when you first arrive on Hollywood Boulevard, then organize the rest of your day around your scheduled tour time. 7.The Sign: In 1923, an investor by the name of Harry Chandler had the letters ‘Hollywoodland’ constructed to advertise a new real estate development. In 1949, the word ‘land’ was removed from the sign and it became an advertisement for the whole town rather than just one neighbourhood. 8. The stars: It's called the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and celebrities can earn stars in 5 categories. 9. Celebrities have to pay for their star 10. Celebrities can earn multiple stars CLICK HERE TO SUBSCRIBE: http://bit.ly/yellowwsub You might enjoy watching some of these other videos: Yellow Productions on Social Media: FACEBOOK: https://facebook.com/YellowProductionsTravel INSTAGRAM: https://instagram.com/yellowwproductions/ TWITTER: https://twitter.com/chrisraney GOOGLE+: https://google.com/+yellowwproductions Check out my blog: http://yelloww.net My video gear: Sony FDR-AX53 4K Handycam: http://amzn.to/2hYePVc Sony ECMW1M Wireless Microphone: http://amzn.to/2gQKDGG GoPro Fusion 360 Camera: https://amzn.to/2NINKSz LensPen Lens Cleaner: http://amzn.to/2hPYui1 Pacsafe LS250 Anti-theft Shoulder Bag: http://amzn.to/2h0YCNt Manfroto Pixi Mini Tripod: http://amzn.to/2ilJms6 Manfrotto Twist Grip Clamp: http://amzn.to/2hYEnyN

The Griffith Observatory is a popular tourist attraction with an excellent view of the Hollywood Sign and an extensive array of space and science-related displays. It is located in the largest park in Los Angeles, California, sitting on the south-facing slope of Mount Hollywood in Los Angeles' Griffith Park. It commands a view of the Los Angeles Basin, including Downtown Los Angeles to the southeast, Hollywood to the south, and the Pacific Ocean to the southwest. Admission has been free since the observatory's opening in 1935, in accordance with the will of Griffith J. Griffith, the benefactor after whom the observatory is named. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Griffith_Observatory Griffith Park is a large municipal park at the eastern end of the Santa Monica Mountains, in the Los Feliz neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. The park covers 4,310 acres (1,740 ha) of land, making it one of the largest urban parks in North America. It is the second-largest city park in California, after Mission Trails Preserve in San Diego, and the 11th largest municipally owned park in the United States. It has also been referred to as the Central Park of Los Angeles but is much larger, more untamed, and rugged than its New York City counterpart. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Griffith_Park Los Angeles is the second-most populous city in the United States, after New York City, and the most populous city in the Western United States. With an estimated population of four million, Los Angeles is the largest and most populous city in the state of California and the cultural, financial, and commercial center of Southern California. Nicknamed the "City of Angels" partly because of its name's Spanish meaning, Los Angeles is known for its Mediterranean climate, ethnic diversity, and sprawling metropolis. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Los_Angeles

Safe Parking for Homeless in Los Angeles

14:05
There are 8,000 homeless people just in the city of Los Angeles living in their cars. While supportive housing is the ultimate solution, one of the more immediate options is to participate in the Safe Parking LA program, where existing parking lots belonging to the city or belonging to churches can be used to create a safe environment for those living in their vehicles. This is on an interim basis while they wait for permanent or transitional housing. Each person is individually vetted and approved. My colleague Councilmember Bob Blumenfield and I visited one of the first safe parking zones in Los Angeles City Council President Herb J. Wesson, Jr.'s district, to get a better understanding of how the program works, who it helps, and if it could be an option for our district. Please watch the video and share your input. Do you think Safe Parking LA can help those living on the street as they await a more permanent solution?

Hancock Park | Community Tour

02:08
Ivan Estrada welcomes you to Hancock Park! Within the Greater Wilshire Hancock Park area there are three fairly well defined neighborhoods: Hancock Park, Larchmont Village, and Windsor Square. The area is attests to Los Angeles’ sprawling degrees of history, character, affluence and charm. Hancock Park and Larchmont have remained stylish without being hipster, quaint without being too cutesy and affluent without pretention. With a negligible border between them, Hancock Park and Larchmont Village embody the perfect balance of culture, cuisine, architecture and the community ambience. Before there was such a thing as the ‘west side,’ Hancock Park was home to the Hollywood elite—and it still packs a serious celebrity punch. Bordering Hollywood and K-town, this exclusive neighborhood hosts some of the most impressive mansions in L.A. and its sprawling green lawns and quiet streets make for the perfect lazy Sunday drive. One of the area’s allures, for locals and outsiders alike, is the quaint Larchmont Village commercial strip. It’s an urban melting pot with a diverse array of quintessential shops; bookstores, clothes boutiques, eateries, and coffee shops etc. Larchmont Village’s European Style Farmer’s Market is a stand out and treat for all senses in every sense. Casablanca lilies, bonsai trees, organic Asian vegetables and homemade apple pies are among the treats for sale and your Sunday mornings will never be quite the same. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sundays, farmers, craft-people, bakers and dozens of other vendors fill the city parking lot on Larchmont Blvd. between Beverly and First streets. It’s a Sunday morning must. A city buzzing with health-conscious patrons, the town offers many options for food and drinks. Hancock Park is known for its 18-Hole Regulation Length Golf Course at Wilshire Country Club. This pristine and private country club is a historical landmark and is for members only, so in that case you’ll definitely need to join the club! http://www.latimes.com/business/realestate/hot-property/la-fi-hp-0423-neighborhood-hancock-park-20160423-story.html https://www.IvanEstradaProperties.com https://ivanestrada.elliman.com

This densely populated neighborhood is notable as the home of the U.S. film industry, including several of its historic studios, and its name has come to be a shorthand reference for the industry and the people associated with it. Hollywood was a small community in 1870 and was incorporated as a municipality in 1903. It was consolidated with the city of Los Angeles in 1910, and soon thereafter a prominent film industry emerged, eventually becoming the most recognizable film industry in the world." ~ Wikipedia.org Keywords: Pig N' Whistle Egyptian Theatre Ripley's Believe It or Not! Hiking to the Hollywood Sign and the Wisdom Tree in Los Angeles

04:43
Hollywood Sign Hike to Burbank Peak and the Wisdom Tree This hike takes you up behind the iconic Hollywood sign on a 3.5 mile road trip trail that takes you up about 800 feet of elevation. It is a steep trail, so know that going in. Be sure to read signs when parking as well so that you do not get a ticket. It is a really fun Southern California hike with great views though and one of my favorite in the LA area. A Walk Around Runyon Canyon, Hollywood, Los Angeles

09:01
Runyon Canyon Park is a 160-acre park in Los Angeles, California, at the eastern end of the Santa Monica Mountains, managed by the Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks. The southern entrance to the park is located at the north end of Fuller Avenue in Hollywood. The northern entrance is off the 7300 block of Mulholland Drive. The Runyon Canyon Road, a fire road that is closed to public motor vehicle access, runs roughly through the center of the park between the northern and southern entrances along Runyon Canyon itself, and there are numerous smaller hiking trails throughout the park. The highest point in the park at an elevation of 1,320 ft is known as Indian Rock. Because of its proximity to residential areas of Hollywood and the Hollywood Hills, celebrity sightings are common. The park is also noted for having a fairly liberal dog policy, with dogs allowed off-leash in 90 of the park's 160 acres

We Like L.A. helps you find the best things to do in Los Angeles! If you enjoyed our visit to the Hollywood Bowl and you're looking for other cool spots in Los Angeles, check out our visits to the Downtown L.A. Art Walk: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z1rsekDLfFc or the Baldwin Park Scenic Overlook: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iB3BqmHN61o * * * * About this video: One of things we never thought about is that the Hollywood Bowl is actually owned by the Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation. (In the video we mention in the video the county operates the park, but to be accurate, the Bowl is operated by the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Apologies for any confusion). Although the site of the Bowl had already hosted several outdoor productions and concerts by the early 1920s, including the first-ever bowl performance by the Los Angeles Philharmonic, it was in 1924 when the property was officially deeded over to L.A. County. This transfer set the stage for the Hollywood Bowl to be preserved and improved upon for future generations. Over the years these improvements and renovations have seen everything from new seating to different iterations of the iconic shell about the main stage. One fascinating tidbit I learned in researching the venue before we arrived was at one point there was actually a pyramid shaped shell designed by Lloyd Wright (sone of Frank Lloyd Wright), but that only lasted for about one year. One thing that's remained constant over the years has been the commitment of the venue to preserve the native habitat. There are dozens of animals and plants that reside at or near the Bowl grounds, and efforts to maintain the habitat lead to the Hollywood Bowl being the first amphitheater in California to be certified as an Audubon Society Cooperative Sanctuary. If you're looking for a game-plan on where to go during your visit, one preferred method for exploring the grounds is through what's called a Bowl Walk, which offers a playbook on points of interest every visitor should see, including, the Muse of Music, the Cahuenga Pass Treasure, and of course the shell of the amphitheater. In addition to the walk, you'll definitely want to check out the Hollywood Bowl Museum, located at the site of the Old Tea Room, near the bottom of the hill off Pepper Tree Lane. Here you'll find a collection of old photographs, posters, and exhibits depicting the timeline of the Hollywood Bowl. You can also head up to the second floor where the museum hosts temporary, featured exhibitions. Most recently on exhibit is Attention Pilots | Hollywood Bowl and the Skies Above the history of how the Bowl has tried to fend off airplane noise from interfering with their performance schedule. Speaking of concerts, during the summer you can even catch open rehearsals by the LA Phil as they prep for evening performances. This is probably one of the most unique aspects of a day-visit to the bowl, as if you time it just right you could hang out with a little picnic and hear some world class musicians tuning up for a gig. Just be sure to call Audience Services (323-850-2000) ahead of time if you want to find out about the upcoming rehearsal schedule. If you're planning a visit keep in mind there is free parking in Lots A and B during the day, but you might want to call ahead to avoid any event or construction-related park closures. The Hollywood Bowl is open daily at around 8 a..m. and is usually closed by sunset (or sometimes earlier if there is an event). Museum hours vary seasonally but breakdown as follows: Summer Hours: June 20 – September 27 Monday: CLOSED Tuesday – Saturday: 10 a.m. – show time Sunday: 4 p.m. – show time Off-Season Hours: September 28 through June 19 Sunday - Monday: CLOSED Tuesday – Friday: 10 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Saturdays: 30+ groups by appointment only Closed Thanksgiving Day, Christmas, and New Years Day LINKS Hollywood Bowl website: http://www.hollywoodbowl.com/ Hollywood Bowl Guide for Newcomers: http://www.hollywoodbowl.com/visit/guide-newcomers Hollywood Bowl Walk: http://www.hollywoodbowl.com/visit/hollywood-bowl-museum/bowl-walk

A Walk Around Barnsdall Art Park, Los Angeles

05:41
Barnsdall Art Park is a city park located in the East Hollywood district of Los Angeles, California. Parking and arts buildings access is from Hollywood Boulevard on the park's north side. The park is a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument, and a facility of the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs. The mission of the arts center is to present, promote, enrich, and develop the arts and artists of the Los Angeles region, inclusive of the city's notable cultural diversity. This continues the intentions of Aline Barnsdall, who donated Barnsdall Park to the City of Los Angeles for arts and recreational purposes, including the preservation of the historic architecture and landscape features. Located at the crest of Olive Hill, Barnsdall Art Park overlooks the city of Los Angeles, and the Hollywood Hills, including Griffith Park. The park is centered on the Barnsdall's Hollyhock House designed by architect Frank Lloyd Wright, a National Historic Landmark, Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument, and on the National Register of Historic Places in Los Angeles.

Universal Studios Hollywood - VIP Tour

01:04:09
I do a Universal Studios VIP tour! What you NEED to know about the Universal Studios Hollywood VIP tour, is that it's a lot of fun to see the Universal Studios Hollywood VIP tour in such a unique new light! universal studios hollywood - vip tour This is video about the VIP Tours in Universal Studios Hollywood. The footage you see in this video was filmed on two different occasions. February 5 and February 10, 2018. Because this is a compilation of two different VIP Tours it is very unlikely that you will see everything in this video on your own VIP Tour. This video is leaning towards The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. It is a new and exiting theme park to which in comparison a lot of the other rides just look old and not anymore up to date, therefore I did not mention them in this video. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is a themed area at Universal Studios Hollywood theme park near Los Angeles, California. The area is themed to the Harry Potter media franchise, adapting elements from the film series and novels by J.K. Rowling. The attraction—the second Harry Potter-themed area to exist at a Universal resort—was designed by Universal Creative from an exclusive license with Warner Bros. Entertainment. After the successful debut of a similarly-themed area at Universal Orlando Resort, Universal Parks & Resorts announced the construction of a second Wizarding World of Harry Potter on December 6, 2011. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter officially began operation on April 7, 2016. The VIP ticket is $329 per person regardless of age. With the VIP Pass you can go on any ride unlimited times bypassing the line. The VIP ticket also includes free Valet parking, free breakfast and lunch at a very good restaurant only for VIP Tour Members.

Disneyland vs Universal Studios Hollywood: 10 Differences

01:02:21
Which theme park is better, Disneyland versus Universal Studios Hollywood. Wondering which park to visit on your trip to Los Angeles? I compare Disneyland and Universal Studios in 10 different areas. EXPAND DESCRIPTION FOR MORE. 1 - Park Themes: Disney: characters and setting from the Disney movie franchise with a large emphasis on their animated films, Mickey, and Minnie Mouse. But Star Wars is coming soon! Many rides for fans 2-10 years of age. And hard-core disney fans, and loyalists. Universal: Inspired by popular films plus, the movie industry in Hollywood and film production itself with tours of the working studio included with the park’s general admission. Gear to a more mature audience than Disneyland 2 - Park Location: Disney: Anaheim, California -- Orange County. 34 miles south-east of LAX Airport. About the only thing worth visiting in Anaheim is Disneyland…. And a bunch of things that cater to people who go to Disneyland. LOTS OF HOTELS! Universal: Hollywood, 10 miles north-east of downtown LA, on a hill overlooking LA. 26 miles from LAX Airport. 36 miles from Disneyland. 3 - Park Layout: Disney: 2 Theme Parks, Downtown Disney, Disney Hotels on Property, Monorail, Parking Far Away (parking tram or bus), multiple days to see it all Universal: Split-level themepark that is pretty small, Universal City Walk, Hilton + Sheraton, Parking Close By, LA Subway, studio tour tram, can do it all in one day 4 - Crowds: Disney: Usually it’s packed, all the time. Parking can take forever. Security and park entry lines can be long. Ride lines can be long, 60-90 minutes. Universal: Way less people most of the summer (summer can be rough). An hour before park closing time of 9pm lines for many rides were 10 minutes. Easy to get in to parking, short lines for park entry. 5 - Skip the line: Disney: Fast pass, Max Pass Universal: Pay for Express Pass, skip each line once (good if you have limited time) 6 - Kids: Disney: = Younger Kids, more strollers = Height limit on many rides is 44 inches = Child Switch via Fast Pass Return Universal: = Older Kids, not too many strollers = Height limit 40 inches = Child Switch Rooms 7 - Characters: Disney: = Long Lines for character meet and greet, but long time with the characters = Characters act “classy” Universal: = Shorter lines for character pictures, but maybe not known to kids = Characters will interact and joke with you walking by = Minions, Transformers, Simpsons, Beetlejuice, Kung Fu Panda, Dora the Explorer, SpongeBob 8 - Costumes: Disney: Ears, Hats, Matching Shirts Universal: Harry Potter Robes 9 - Attractions/Rides: Disney: = Amazing theming on the rides, want to ride again and again = Best Land: Cars Land Universal: = Lots of motion projection rides (barf!). Once and never again. = Many rides feel like they aren’t “done” = Best Land: Wizarding World of Harry Potter, = Best Ride: Studio Tour 10 - Shows: Disney: Parades, Frozen, Fireworks, Fantasmic, World of Color Universal: Waterworld, Animal Actors, Special Effects Show Conclusion: Price: About the same for 1 day tix. Annual Passes at Universal are cheaper. Age: Disneyland better for ages 2-10 Location: Universal better for LA attractions Time: Universal done in a day (15 attractions). Disney 2-3 days (100 attractions) Theme: Disneyland is for Disney lovers and it’s very immersive and well done. Universal is for “movie” and Harry Potter fans. I like Disneyland best. Amazing Experience and atmosphere...You can wander around Disneyland and have a good time without going on a single ride. There's music and entertainment, exhibits, etc. Go early in the day, and use fast pass. NEXT LIVE STREAM: Monday March 19, 2018 @ 8pm LA time! Topic: TBD! Follow me on Facebook for more updates! [4K] Jurassic Park Ride - NOW CLOSED at Universal Studios Hollywood

11:09
[4K] Jurassic Park the Ride is now closed for a massive transformation over to Jurassic World Ride. We got to experience Jurassic Park the ride for the final time last week before it goes extinct. An immersive Jurassic World Ride will replace Jurassic Park Ride. The new ride is scheduled to open in 2019 at Universal Studios Hollywood. The ride video was filmed in August 2018. Since the falling jeep wasn't working in the first clip of the video, we've decided to add another footage that we recorded last year to show how it looks like if everything was working properly. As a added bonus, you will also get to see the new Blue raptor meet and greet from Jurassic World at the end of the video.

Runyon Canyon Park - Los Angeles, CA

04:02
It's hard to believe? Runyon Canyon Park is located right by Hollywood! It's a great place for workout and short hikes to explore nature. It also offers a dog park, so pet friendly environment. Trails are moderately steep, and some are very steep, but short. You can choose paved or dirt trails, and also loop or through hike. Like Griffith Park, this is a very popular park among walkers and runners. So, you won't be alone on the trail. There are a few different entrances depending on where you want to start....from Fuller Ave or Vista St on Hollywood side, or from Mulholland Dr on the north side of the park. West Ridge trail is the steepest and East Ridge is moderately steep. You can loop around both ridges or hike the paved route which runs through between the two ridges. Views along the trails, Vista points/Inspiration Point and from Indian Rock which is the highest point of the park are spectacular....Hollywood sign, Griffith Park and overlooking Hollywood, DTLA and as far as Parlos Verdes, Santa Monica Mountains and Pacific Ocean to the south as well as San Gabriel mountains and beyond to the north. Outdoor Yoga class is offered in the park. Parking can be tough as you have to park on the street. Read the sign before you park!

"Parking at the Hollywood Bowl - If You Drive Into This Mess, Don't Be a Tool" (2:10). a film by Hso. Here's the huge parking secret at the Hollywood Bowl: Park cheaper south of Hollywood Boulevard. Then grab ultra-secret Metro Bus Line 671, which exists only on Bowl nights and is hidden behind the Chinese Theater, on Orange Drive. Line 671 stops only at the Bowl, normally a 25-minute uphill walk. Or be a tool and relive this woman's nightmare, by trying to park by the Bowl. Music by Gemini Rooster.
