Top 10 Movies That Ruined The Directors' Reputation

13:13
Top 10 Horrible, Bad or Underwhelming Movies That Ruined The Directors' Reputation Subscribe http://goo.gl/Q2kKrD One dud or flop of a movie can be enough to ruin a director’s reputation and career. Many of these directors were able to make a comeback, like Paul Verhoeven, Roman Polanski - who recovered from “Pirates” with “The Pianist” - and Oliver Stone’s persevering after the disaster that was “Alexander,” while many are still trying to reclaim past glory, like M. Night Shyamalan, Josh Trank, The Wachowskis and Cameron Crowe. Other directors vying for the top spot include George Lucas, Kevin Costner and Joel Schumacher. For this list, we’ll be ranking the films that were helmed by directors who had either enjoyed a string of successful prior efforts, or who had a strong amount of critical and commercial buzz in their careers. Why 70's films were the best - Video Essay

07:01
The 70's is often refereed to as being the greatest decade for film, it gave us some of the most iconic films of all time (Godfather and Apocalypse now), the greatest blockbusters (Star Wars and Jaws) and even terrifying movies (The Exorcist and Alien). But what made the 70's so great? It didn't happen in a vacuum, going back in time to the 60's provides us with some context. In this video/film essay, I explore SOME of the outside factors that influenced the major studios and directors to be innovative. In fact this decade gave us too many amazing films, i included as many as I could in this video but still left out classic films like (Alien, Apocalypse Now, Taxi Driver, Deer Hunter, The Conversation, the list goes on).

12 Celebs Hollywood WON’T CAST Anymore!

09:25
Famous actors Hollywood won’t cast anymore! These celebrities used to be actors and actresses in blockbuster movies but now they don’t get top movie roles 12. Cuba Gooding Jr- Best known for his roles in Jerry Maguire, Men of Honor and for playing athlete O.J. Simpson in American Crime Story, the actor has left us wanting so much more. With his last movie role as Fred Gray in the 2014 Selma, we haven’t seen much of the actor, and we aren’t sure why. Back in 2016. The actor told E! News that he was offered to star in Amistad and Hotel Rwanda but said no. He revealed that he declined because, in his mind, he had the role he wanted to play. When he won an Oscar Award for Jerry Maguire, he didn’t want anything that could parody the face that he like a tagline in a movie. The actor states that he did end up regretting not taking up the roles as he offended a lot of great directors and when that happened, he somewhat faded away. Fortunately, he says he learned his lesson and now considers the director no matter what the role is! 11. Jodie Foster- The actress and filmmaker has delivered award winning performances in iconic movies like Silence of the Lambs and Carnage. She has also starred in the fantasy film Nim’s Island and the suspense thriller Inside Man, but the end of 2000’s we haven’t seen much of the actress. So what happened? Foster has tried to unsuccessfully tried to take hold of a couple of projects in the past years which include starring and directing in a biopic of Nazi film director Leni Riefenstahl, who was not fond of the idea. Since 2010, she has taken few acting roles and focused her attention on directing. She starred and directed the 2011 film Beaver and called the production the biggest struggle of her professional career. The film flopped at the box and received mixed reviews. She is also spending more time with her family, since coming out to the public with her true sexuality, she enjoys a quiet home life. Foster rarely talks about her private life in interviews but has shared that her family is what’s most important to her. 10. Cameron Diaz- The actress and former model rose to fame starring in high profile credits like Charlie’s Angels, and There’s Something About Mary. By 2010, Forbes named Diaz as the richest female celebrity, and in 2013, she was listed as the highest paid actress in Hollywood. But her newest releases started to tank at the box office, and movie like Sex Tape, The Counselor, The Other Woman and Annie received negative reviews and Razzie awards for worst actress. With a slew of unsuccessful films, it seems like Diaz was losing her charisma and chopping blocks which might be a reason why Hollywood hasn’t cast her in any movies. Her last onscreen appearance was on the children’s show Yo Gabba Gabba back in 2015. But that was almost two years ago so what has she been up to? It seems like she’s enjoying the married life but has yet to make any public appearances. However, she is set to reprise her role as Princess Fiona in Dreamworks Shrek 5 which is scheduled to be release in 2020, but we’re still hoping that she appear in another film before then. 9. Hayden Christensen- In the early 2000’s, everybody thought Christensen was going to Hollywood’s next big star. He became a subject of the public eye for starring the Star Wars films, but his post Star Wars movies weren’t big hits and he faded in the background. He became a family man and settled down with actress Rachel Bilson and spent five years away from the spotlight. It wasn’t until 2015 when he returned to the big screen starring in the drama 90 Minutes in Heaven. While many people thought it wasn’t a good decision to move acting aside during the peak of his fame, he stated that he knew the consequences. He told the Los Angeles Times that if time away was going to take a jab at his career, then so be it and if he could climb his way back up then maybe he’ll feel like he earned it.

The Most Disturbing Movies Of 2019 So Far

12:28
As the year continues to deliver a potent slate of movies possessed of unholy terrors, nefarious characters, and beastly delights, we're happy to chronicle each and every one of them for you. These are the most disturbing movies of 2019. Director and screenwriter Dan Gilroy last teamed up with Jake Gyllenhaal for a caustic media satire about an overly ambitious young man trying to break into the gritty world of crime journalism. Nightcrawler seamlessly blended biting satire with a distinctly dark sensibility, even using horror movie tropes to give the action a nightmarish, post-modern quality. Featuring one of the best performances of Gyllenhaal's career, Nightcrawler proved to be one of 2014's best films. In fact, the gruesome, gritty film was such a success, the pair teamed up once again for Gilroy's latest satirical confection...the supernatural thriller Velvet Buzzsaw. You'll be happy to know they deliver another scathing indictment on capitalist culture…although Velvet Buzzsaw is a far campier and cheekier experience. The film revolves around the fickle, opportunistic world of modern art. We meet a vapid circle of taste-makers out to get rich by selling off a recently unearthed stack of paintings. The catch? These paintings were created by a madman whose spirit resides in each work of art…and now the ghastly ghoul seeks revenge against anyone who tries profiting from his work. Yes, the plot is as silly as it sounds. And yes, Gilroy fully embraces that silliness throughout the film. He also tempers the mood with a heaping dose of menace that transforms his parody into a brooding, bloody beast of a film. JOKER - Teaser Trailer

02:25
Joker - Teaser Trailer - In Theaters October 4 https://www.joker.movie https://www.facebook.com/jokermovie https://twitter.com/jokermovie https://www.instagram.com/jokermovie/ Director Todd Phillips’ original, standalone origin story “Joker” explores the world of—and according to—Arthur Fleck. Indelibly portrayed by Joaquin Phoenix, Arthur is a man facing the cruelty and outright scorn of society, along with the indifference of a system that allows him to spiral from vulnerability into depravity. A clown-for-hire by day, he strives to be a stand-up comic at night…but finds that the joke always seems to be on him. He’s out of tune with everyone around him, as evidenced by his uncontrollable, inappropriate laughter, which gains momentum as he attempts to contain it, exposing him to further ridicule—and even violence. Arthur, who devotes himself to caring for his fragile mother, seeks out every father figure he’s never had, from wealthy businessman Thomas Wayne to TV host Murray Franklin. Caught in a cyclical existence teetering on the precipice of reality and madness, one bad decision brings about a chain reaction of escalating, ultimately deadly, events. Three-time Oscar nominee Phoenix (“The Master,” “Walk the Line,” “Gladiator”) stars in the titular role alongside Oscar winner Robert De Niro (“Raging Bull,” “The Godfather: Part II”) as Franklin. The film also stars Zazie Beetz (“Deadpool 2”), Frances Conroy (TV’s “American Horror Story,” Hulu’s “Castle Rock”), Marc Maron (TV’s “Maron,” “GLOW”), Bill Camp (“Red Sparrow,” “Molly’s Game”), Glenn Fleshler (TV’s “Billions,” “Barry”), Shea Whigham (“First Man,” “Kong: Skull Island”), Brett Cullen (“42,” Netflix’s “Narcos”), Douglas Hodge (“Red Sparrow,” TV’s “Penny Dreadful”) and Josh Pais (upcoming “Motherless Brooklyn,” “Going in Style”). Oscar nominee Phillips (“Borat,” “The Hangover” trilogy) directs from a screenplay he co-wrote with Oscar-nominated writer Scott Silver (“The Fighter”), based on characters from DC. The film is produced by Phillips and Oscar nominee Bradley Cooper (“A Star Is Born,” “American Sniper”) under their Joint Effort banner, and Oscar nominee Emma Tillinger Koskoff (“The Wolf of Wall Street”). It is executive produced by Michael E. Uslan, Walter Hamada, Aaron L. Gilbert, Joseph Garner, Richard Baratta, and Bruce Berman. Behind the scenes, Phillips is joined by director of photography Lawrence Sher (“Godzilla: King of the Monsters,” “The Hangover” trilogy), production designer Mark Friedberg (“Selma,” “The Amazing Spider-Man 2”), editor Jeff Groth (“War Dogs,” “The Hangover Part III”), and Oscar-winning costume designer Mark Bridges (“Phantom Thread,” “The Artist”). The music is by Hildur Guðnadóttir (“Sicario: Day of the Soldado”). Warner Bros. Pictures Presents, in Association with Village Roadshow Pictures, in Association with BRON Creative, a Joint Effort Production, a Film by Todd Phillips, “Joker.” It will be in theaters nationwide October 4, 2019 and will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures.

Why Sean Connery Practically Vanished From Hollywood For Good

05:35
Sean Connery is basically a living legend in Hollywood - but it’s been decades since he last took a significant role in a movie. So what drove such a talented and respected actor out of the spotlight - and could anything lure him back? Connery hasn't appeared in a film since 2003, when he starred in The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. His absence was noted over the following years, but Connery kept quiet about his future plans, which left fans wondering whether he would ever return to acting. Finally, in 2006, he said that he had officially retired, confirming his status after receiving a lifetime achievement award from the American Film Institute. In a 2007 interview with Heat Vision, he reaffirmed that he truly was done with acting. At this point, it could be argued that Connery doesn't have anything left to accomplish in Hollywood. He had already established a long-lasting legacy, and retiring when he was ready rather than continuing to make films solely for the money is a decision worthy of respect. After all, what could really top being James Bond and Indiana Jones' dad? Connery never explicitly stated the reason for retirement, but it seems that a number of different factors led him to decide it was finally time to hang up his hat. The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen was panned by critics, and rather than picking up one more role to end his career on a better note, he chose to follow his initial instinct and walk away. Connery was very frustrated with his experience working with director Stephen Norrington on Gentlemen, even saying say that Norrington should have been, quote, "locked up for insanity." Connery has since explained that he did his best with his role, but knew that the entire production was going off the rails - and that critics and audiences alike probably wouldn't be too pleased. He even claimed that he got "heavily involved in editing” in an attempt “to salvage" the end result; and while his efforts may have helped somewhat, the film was still considered a massive flop. Connery walked away and has never looked back. Keep watching the video to see why Sean Connery practically vanished from Hollywood for good. #SeanConnery Walking away | 0:13 Beleaguered | 1:07 Rejection of the Crystal Skull | 1:56 Never again | 2:47 Speaking out | 3:38 On the links | 4:25

Bad director or bad actor? - Collider

04:51
The Movie Mukesh writes: Hello collider crew, I love the show and watch it everyday. My question is about good and bad actors, I always get confuse when people say this person is a actor/actress, but aren't they just doing what and how the director asked them. I like to think that there are no bad actors, i think that it's directors fault that he/she didn't pull off the best from their actors. For example if Leo DiCaprio played in a movie, and turns out to be really really bad, that would be the director's fault that he couldn't pull off the best out of Leo?? Your thoughts??? The Most Anticipated Sci Fi Movies Of 2020

06:29
2020 might feel far away, but Hollywood's major studios are already planning ahead with some legit super hits on the horizon. And if you're a fan of sci-fi flicks, then 2020's looking like an especially good year for you. These are just a few of the most anticipated sci-fi blockbusters on their way to a big screen near you. Film fans will finally get the answer to an age-old question in 2020, when Godzilla and King Kong face off on the big screen. Director Adam Wingard has already assured fans that his take on the two monsters will crown a definitive winner, unlike the 1962 film that first pit the two characters against each other. This will be the fourth entry in Legendary's MonsterVerse, first established in 2014's Godzilla and further explored in Kong: Skull Island. Godzilla: King of the Monsters opened up that world even wider in 2019, bringing old favorites like Mothra and Rodan into the fray and setting the stage for this clash of the titans. Godzilla vs. Kong is the biggest project yet for Wingard, whose previous directing credits include You're Next, The Guest, and Blair Witch. As if the collision of these two screen icons wasn't fan-pleasing enough, the movie will also feature an impressive assembly of human actors. Stranger Things' Millie Bobbie Brown will reprise her King of the Monsters role, with Black Panther's Danai Gurira and Deadpool 2's Julian Dennison also attached to star. It's pretty hard to keep a movie production secret, particularly in the age of comprehensive entertainment news sites. That's why it was as startling as a freaky ghost when filmmaker Jason Reitman revealed that not only was he working on a new Ghostbusters movie, but that he already had a vague but atmospheric teaser trailer announcing its summer 2020 arrival. The Most Shocking Endings In Movie History

11:07
Seeing the characters we've spent a whole movie getting to know ride off into the sunset might be a great feeling, but sometimes a greater thrill can be found in a good shock. Luckily, there are plenty of writers and directors who are adept at leaving audiences utterly speechless as the credits roll. Massive spoilers ahead. Bryan Singer's neo-noir classic The Usual Suspects follows the interrogation of seemingly helpless Roger "Verbal" Kint, one of only two survivors of a devastating fire on a ship docked at the Port of Los Angeles. Kevin Spacey's character spins the detectives and viewers a long and twisted tale of drugs, deceit and death, explaining that everything comes back to a mysterious mob boss by the name of Keyser Söze. The twist? Kint was Keyser Söze all along, which the officers realize only a few moments too late. As Kint exits the police station and shuffles off down the street, his awkward gait starts to straighten out - and we realize we've been had. Watch the video for more about the most shocking endings in movie history. #TwistEndings #ShockingEndings The Usual Suspects | 0:19 Inglourious Basterds | 0:59 The Planet of the Apes | 1:51 Orphan | 2:41 The Empire Strikes Back | 3:22 Seven | 4:09 The Departed | 4:40 Shutter Island | 5:24 Into The Wild | 6:09 The Perks of Being a Wallflower | 6:55 The Mist | 7:41 The Sixth Sense | 8:25 The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas | 9:23 Psycho | 10:03

Just because it’s a year away, don’t sleep on the most anticipated movies of 2020 - there’s some outstanding films coming in 2020 that you’ll want to add to your calendar right now. You know about the biggies - Wonder Woman 2 - which is titled Wonder Woman 1984 - is slated for a June 2020 release. Gal Gadot returns as Diana Prince, and Kristen Wiig is set to star as her nemesis Cheetah. Given the success of Wonder Woman and the surprising success of Aquaman, it seems like the DCEU is on the upswing and Wonder Woman 1984 will continue that trend. A Ghostbusters 2020 release isn’t anything people expected. After the horrific Ghostbusters 2016 reboot, fans needed something to cleanse their palate, and Jason Reitman, son of original Ghostbusters director Ivan Reitman, is set to make the latest Ghostbusters, which will be a direct sequel to the original franchise, skipping the 2016 Ghostbusters completely - much to the chagrin of Leslie Jones and Paul Fegg - but to the delight of fans. Godzilla vs Kong will have King Kong and Godzilla duke it out - and according to director Adam Wingard there will be a winner, unlike the original King Kong vs Godzilla (1964). Godzilla first must face off - or get help from - Rodan, and Mothra, in Godzilla King of the Monsters (2019) as he faces King Ghidorah. Who will win in Godzilla v Kong, the follow up to Godzilla: King Of The Monsters? There’s no telling which way they’ll go with the story - both have been heroic in the latest incarnations of films, so one of these good guy monsters is going down. #BadBoysForLive #GodzillaVsKong #WonderWoman1984 Bad Boys For Life | 0:13 Bond 25 | 1:00 Bloodshot | 2:05 Fast & Furious 9 | 2:56 Godzilla vs. Kong | 3:38 Maleficent 2 | 4:47 Wonder Woman 1984 | 5:40 Ghostbusters | 6:40 Top Gun: Maverick | 7:48 In the Heights | 8:41 Fantastic Beasts 3 | 9:32 Avatar 2 | 10:15
