How to Add Custom Fonts in WordPress Manually and Using a Plugin
Are you looking to customize the font on your WordPress site to make its design exactly how you like? Not all themes have a built in method to edit the font of your site and you may be looking to change this. In this video, we will show you how to add custom fonts to your WordPress site. Font Pair website: https://fontpair.co For selecting the fonts to use on your site you can use the Font Pair website for what would work well together and then you can visit the Google Fonts website at: https://fonts.google.com Select the fonts you want to add and there should be a new section at the bottom of the page where you can see the fonts you selected to add to your WordPress site. Expand that area and ensure you are under the Embed section for the correct code that you will need to add to your header. For adding the code you would want to use the plugin Insert Headers and Footers found here: https://wordpress.org/plugins/insert-headers-and-footers/ Under Settings, Insert Headers and Footers you will add the first set of code to add the fonts to your site. With that added and saved you will want to go under Appearance, Customize, Additional CSS and there you would be able to add the second code which lets the font be visible to you and your visitors. A second method would be using the Easy Google Fonts plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/easy-google-fonts/ The plugin will add a new section under Appearance, Typography and there you will be able to select the font to use for each style location. We would still recommend only two fonts to prevent confusing your users. Our third method for this would be the plugin Typekit Fonts for WordPress: https://wordpress.org/plugins/typekit-fonts-for-wordpress/ With that plugin, you would be able to select fonts from the Typekit website, add the ID from the popup, and select where you want the custom font for your WordPress site to appear in your Appearance, Customize, Additional CSS section. How to Use Custom Fonts as Resources in Android Studio (Incl Toolbar)
In this tutorial, we will learn how to add custom fonts as resources into our Android Studio project. Unlike downloadable fonts, these local fonts are bundled with the APK and always available offline. We will also learn how we can bundle multiple fonts together into one font-family XML file, where we can specify a fontStyle and fontWeight for each font file, and let the system apply it to a TextView automatically in accordance to its textStyle (italic or bold). By adding the fontFamily attribute to the AppTheme instead of a single TextView, we can apply a font application-wide, and by using it on a Toolbar theme, we can change the font of the Toolbar specifically. We can also change the font of a TextView dynamically in Java code, by creating a Typeface object with getResources().getFont() or the ResourcesCompat compatibility version, and applying this Typeface to a TextView with setTypeface. Custom fonts are backward compatible down to API level 16 over the AppCompat support library. On API 28 and higher, we can specify the font weight directly over the Typeface.create method or the textFontWeight XML attribute. Supported font resources are ttf and otf files. We can access the free Google Fonts library directly over the Android Studio Design Editor. Using Fonts in Android
Android O and Support Library 26 introduce new ways of working with fonts. You can now bundle fonts as resources by adding the font file in the res/font folder and use it like any other asset in XML layouts, styles or programmatically via the Typeface. Instead of bundling your font files in the APK, you can now let the APK download them. Your app’s size is decreased and overall system health is improved, since multiple APKs can use the same font. This video is a little bit long, but it covers a diverse amount of Illustrator tips ranging from using layers, brushes, the pen tool, and general theories for how to approach customizing type. I did my best not to skip over how to specifically do anything in order to make this fairly beginner friendly. I do suggest watching the below pen tool tutorials before doing this video if you are unfamiliar with the pen tool. Pacifico Font: https://www.fontsquirrel.com/fonts/pacifico Pen Tool Tutorial (Easy Overview): https://youtu.be/0B_IQK7hMo0 Pen Tool Tutorial (Professional Way): https://youtu.be/vpOCt6k7Oqg The tutorial also covers ways inside Adobe Illustrator to tweak and refine free fonts that are often a little bit rough and need some extra attention. When quality fonts are available for free, often times they are used quite a lot and as such can make any project that picks them feel a little bit generic. This method is a great way to get around that by allowing you to take some stylistic control over what the final result will look like. The Death of Helvetica and the Rise of the Bespoke Font
Helvetica is one of the most famous fonts in the world. Introduced in 1957, it made an immediate impression on designers in particular, and, today, is ubiquitous. So much so that a New York designer tried to live a day without seeing it, and couldn't make it. But, recently, this popular font has been less present. A number of brands that previously used the font have stopped using it in favor of building their own. Why? This video looks at the history of Helvetica, and the various bespoke alternatives some notable brands are switching to. From Apple and Google to Netflix and Airbnb. How one typeface took over movie posters
Why Hollywood kept using Trajan. Subscribe to our channel! http://goo.gl/0bsAjO For the past 25 years, one typeface has dominated Hollywood typography: Trajan. It’s everywhere, from Shakespearean epic classics like Titus to gory modern flicks like The Human Centipede. It was even the official typeface of the Academy Awards for a while. In movie poster design, if you want to make a film look official, you use Trajan. So how did that happen? Designer Yves Peters set out to answer that question. The font that escaped the Nazis and landed on the moon
Futura is familiar. But its journey from avant-garde German type to hipster favorite is unusual — and it includes Nazis and the moon. Futura was created by Paul Renner in 1920s Germany, just as the Bauhaus movement was picking up steam. Though Renner wasn't Bauhaus, Futura had that flavor, which was part of the problem. The newly powerful Nazis favored the ornate Fraktur type style to modern Futura, so they excluded both the type and its creator. Of course, Nazis are not just evil, but also often insane and inefficient — so Futura returned to Germany, as did Renner. But by that time, Futura had established itself as the international typeface of the future, and the font's legacy was secured. That's even more clear when you learn about the lunar plaque that went up on Apollo 11. Futura was the font selected for that great task — making Futura the font that escaped the Nazis and landed on the moon.

Typography Tutorial - 10 rules to help you rule type
Graphic Design Tutorial: 10 Typography rules to help you improve your type skills. Get better at graphic design by understanding how to use type. Improve your layouts instantly by following these 10 easy to follow rules. How can you quickly apply typographic rules to regain control of your layouts by following these 10 golden rules of typography? These rules are distilled down from the things that I learned by going to Art Center College of Design. Generally speaking, there are two types of typography– expressive typography (type is visual, carries the meaning of the word and sometimes appears as physical shapes) and functional typography (type that is meant to be read). I will focus on the latter. When starting out, it is best to learn the fundamentals of good design: hierarchy (primary, secondary and tierchiary reads), flow (how a person “reads” the layout by following the movement of their attention), legibility (in Western culture, type is read top to bottom, left to right so it’s important to arrange type accordingly), grouping (organizing blocks of type in intelligent and logical groups) and interest, achieved through contrast (scale, texture, color, density, negative space). Use any typeface you like as long as it’s one of the following: Akzidenz Grotesque, Avenir, Avant Garde, Bell Gothic, Bodoni, Bembo, Caslon, Clarendon, Courier, Din Mittelschrift, Franklin Gothic, Frutiger, Futura, Garamond, Gill Sans, Gotham, Helvetica, Letter Gothic, Memphis, Meta, OCRB, Rockwell, Sabon, Trade Gothic, Trajan and Univers. _________________________________________________________________ Great books to learn more about typography: Stop Stealing Sheep & Find Out How Type Works by Erik Spiekermann http://amzn.to/2iNXwC8 Josef Müller Brockmann Pioneer of Swiss Graphic Design http://amzn.to/2k7o5Yb Typography Manual @2017 Chris Do https://blind.com/blog/typography-manual/ _________________________________________________________________ Animation by: Leo Dinh Red Cat Motion http://redcatmotion.com Music and sound design by: Adam Sanborne http://adamsanborne.com _ Listen to our podcast on iTunes: The Futur https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/the-futur/id1152604340?mt=2 Android Stitcher http://www.stitcher.com/podcast/aaron/the-futur HOW TO SUPPORT THE FUTUR: Purchase a Kit: http://theskool.co/collections/all or subscribe to the secret and private Master mind group on Facebook with exclusive videos not released anywhere else. How to Install Fonts in Windows 10
In this video tutorial, I will show you How to Install New Fonts in Windows 10. If you are into graphic design, typography, or in a field in which you need to have access to a wide variety of fonts, you may have to import new fonts. Windows 10 comes with many pre-installed fonts, but installing fonts is not straight forward because there is no install or import font option. In order to do so, you will have to download the TTF font file you want to install and then copy the file and paste it to the fonts section in the Windows Control Panel, which can be accessed via Settings. Once you install the new font(s), you can access them in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint or other MS Office applications. - Updated Tutorial: How to Install Fonts in Windows 10: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W77sZEkkIAk - Download Windows Movie Maker at: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/movie-maker - Buy Windows 10 Home at Amazon: http://amzn.to/1W0Ouje CREDITS: Microsoft, Windows, and the Windows logo are trademarks, or registered trademarks of Microsoft Corporation in the United States and/or other countries. Improving Web and Mobile App Typography - 5 basic guidelines
One of my goals this year is to digest important concepts in design and then try to explain them in a concise, easy-to-follow format. My first attempt is on typography. I studied from the best and I was able to list five essential principles to improve the typographic quality of your web and mobile app products in this video. I hope you like it—your feedback would be greatly appreciated. Here are five essential practical guidelines to improve your typographic quality of your web and mobile product designs. 1. Start by choosing your body text typeface. 2. Try to avoid mixing typefaces. 3. Watch your line length. 4. Balance line height and point size. 5. Use proper Apostrophes and Dashes. I plan to go more into detail in a crash course on typography that I’ll publish here. We’ll talk about the difference between typefaces and fonts, how to choose the right type, where to discover good typography, pairing typefaces, and more conceptual stuff. How To Add Fonts To Adobe Photoshop CS6/CS5/CS4/CC
Click here for a tutorial on adding brushes to photoshop - http://youtu.be/xsixuCFC1hE Click here for the font website - http://www.dafont.com/ Read Below... For the font I used - http://www.dafont.com/arcade-book.font I used winrar to extract the font. If you dont have it you can get it below http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q7RG2020VEM when extracting with winrar you only have to extract the font file, it should have a icon/thumbnail with an "a" on it, then extract it to your desktop, right click it, then install. however you don't need to have it, after you click download, you can go in your downloads file, then find the file you downloaded. It should have a little icon/thumbnail with an "a" on it, right click, and then install. it should now be done! Instructions when you have downloaded winrar 1. go to www.dafont.com 2. look around the website and find a font you like 3. click download to the right 4. open the download in winrar 5. click on the file with a icon/thumbnail which will have a "A" on it 6. click on "extract to" 7. then chose desktop and click ok 8. right click on the file you extracted 9. click install 10. open up photoshop, or which ever you want to use 11. click on fonts, and find it, 12. write something and it should have worked Thanks for watching!

In modern usage, with the advent of digital typography, "font" is frequently synonymous with "typeface". Each style is in a separate "font file"—for instance, the typeface "Bulmer" may include the fonts "Bulmer roman", "Bulmer italic", "Bulmer bold" and "Bulmer extended"—but the term "font" might be applied either to one of these alone or to the whole typeface. In both traditional typesetting and modern usage, the word "font" refers to the delivery mechanism of the typeface design. In traditional typesetting, the font would be made from metal or wood. Today, the font is a digital file.

The term "font" is actually wrong when used in the general context referring to the design or style a typography uses! The video carefully explains what are fonts and what are typefaces! On top of that, you'll also learn how to set your default shape and default text box formatting so this doesn't happen to you in the future. The Replace Fonts is a GREAT feature for quickly switching out old font styles in your slides, saving you from having to manually walk through all your PowerPoint slides one-by-one yourself, replacing each font style yourself. This is another great PowerPoint Speed Training example where you can save a ton of time by getting PowerPoint to do the heavy lifting for you. Using the Replace Fonts command, PowerPoint walks through your entire presentation (including the Slide Master) and changes the fonts in all your objects like: • Shapes • Text boxes • Placeholders • Tables • SmartArt • It even works through the notes pane The only place this font changer command doesn’t work in PowerPoint is with your charts. So, if you have a bunch of charts in your presentation with the wrong font, just be aware that you will have to manually replace fonts there. After changing your fonts, another clever PowerPoint Speed Training trick is to set your default shape formatting and set your default text box formatting. That way the old font styles that you don't want won't accidentally show back up in you r slides, which is bound to otherwise happen if someone has set default text boxes and shapes to the old (bad) font style. To see how to set the default font formatting for your shapes and text boxes, watch the short video above. For additional help replacing fonts in your PowerPoint slides, see the blog post below on my blog. https://nutsandboltsspeedtraining.com/powerpoint-tutorials/powerpoint-change-font-all-slides/
