What Happened To Atlantis?

13:40
Check out what happened to atlantis! This top 10 list shows the most current theories surrounding the location of the mysterious los city of atlantis! It’s the Island of Santorini A common view is that Atlantis was actually part of Santorini, a small island in the East Mediterranean that was partly-destroyed by the mighty Volcano of Thera in 1646 BC. Yeah, a looong time ago. Geologists have suggested that if you reconstruct the island of Santorini, you can see that this complete version, before it was destroyed by the volcano, used to be Plato’s mysterious island of legend! 9. The Black Sea Some are happy to believe that Atlantis was just a made up story of legend. But others believe it was a real place. Not only that, but it was actually something else. The theory of Atlantis being located in the Black Sea region is a great example of this. It all centers on the rise of ocean levels following the last Ice Age. 8. Under Antarctica Atlantis is usually believed to have somewhere warm, possibly around the Mediterranean, and you’d probably need your sunscreen (if it had been invented yet). However an American historian thought the truth was very different. And colder! Prof. Charles A Hapgood went on record in the 1950s as believing the mythical island was in fact, part of Antarctica. 7. Is It Based on Truth? Atlantis is often portrayed as being the perfect society, a peaceful utopia that was very technologically advanced. However, if you look at where the legend started, in Plato’s dialogues written in 330 BC, he describes a place that is just like any other. According to him, it was a technologically advanced society that was wealthy, and had a very powerful military but it was also corrupt. He claims that Atlantis battled against the city of Athens who came out the hero. 6. It was founded by Lemurians An old idea about Atlantis is that it’s connected to the lost continent of Lemuria. Lemuria was believed to be located in the Indian or Pacific oceans but their continent sunk due to volcanic activity. They were beings who could travel between dimensions by altering the matter in their bodies. Plate tectonic theory and the existence of other continents strongly discount that this ever existed. 5. Lost in the Bermuda Triangle Plato talks about how Atlantis was swallowed by the sea in a single day. Even so, you’d think that over the centuries someone would have stumbled on something concrete to prove the island existed right? Well this kind of happened in the late 1960s. 4. It’s in the Bahamas If you’re in the United States then Atlantis may be closer than you think. To be more precise it could be 50 miles east of Miami! There lies the island of Bimini, part of a chain of islands in the Bahamas. Just 20 feet (6m) under the water there are some mysterious stones which could show the existence of Plato’s fabled kingdom. 3. Founded by Aliens You know I couldn’t leave this theory out, since so many people out there actually believe this stuff, no thanks to Ancient Aliens on the History Channel! Supposedly aliens landed on our planet in its infancy and helped in the development of our ancient cultures, one of which was Atlantis. 2. It’s in Morocco A German computer genius named Michael Hübner came up with a unique approach to finding Atlantis in 2008 when he gave a presentation at the Atlantis Conference in Athens. Others had taken an archaeological approach or used mysticism to locate Plato’s fantasy island. 1.Plato Made It Up I’m sad to say that the most realistic theory is that Atlantis was made up by Plato, the Athenian philosopher who first told the world about it. Plato lived between 424-328 BC. The legendary island with an advanced civilization was described in his Dialogues titled ‘Timaeus’ and ‘Critias’ which were written around 330 BC. Pictures: https://goo.gl/photos/ygV8wvkeaTz7zH3n8 Unicycle Trip across Europe using the 4,171km long bicycle route (EuroVelo 6) that runs from the Atlantic Ocean in France to the Black Sea and that follows 3 of the largest rivers in Europe: the Loire, Rhine and Danube. Using bike routes (Loire a velo, Danube cycle path) or low traffic streets where possible, the route crosses ten countries (France, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria & Romania). With an open mind, both to the people I met and to the environment I was travelling through, I was warmly received wherever I went and came back full of tales of marvellous encounters. This unicycle trip allowed me to meet people from all ages, countries, backgrounds and from all social groups – what a wonderful experience I will never forget! #Donauradweg #Danube #Donau #Doubs #Loire #Velo #Radweg #Atlantic #BlackSea #UnicycleTrip #EuroVelo #LoireVelo #1Rad #Einrad #VoieVerte

Most MYSTERIOUS Ocean Facts!

11:50
Check out these top unexplained mysteries of the deep ocean. From strange sounds captured in the deep sea by hydrophones such as the bloop, the train, and julia, to gigantic whirlpools, biggest underwater falls and the milky bioluminescent sea phenomenon. Are deep sea monsters living deep in the ocean? Subscribe For New Videos! http://goo.gl/UIzLeB Watch our "12 Historical Treasures In The Middle East DESTROYED!" video here: https://youtu.be/Nt9mWUpTp1U Watch our "Most HAUNTED Places In The World!" video here: https://youtu.be/h9elrDhft9w Watch our "Most DANGEROUS Religious Cults Ever!" video here: https://youtu.be/VTD1qabI3v0 9. Underwater Falls Voted one of the most beautiful places on Earth, Mauritius is an island nation in the Indian Ocean. On the Southwestern tip of the island you will find a fascinating illusion. When viewed from above, a runoff of sand and silt deposits creates the impression of an ‘underwater waterfall’. But did you know there are actually real underwater waterfalls? Seven waterfalls have been discovered deep underwater. The tallest waterfall on Earth is not Angel Falls, but an underwater waterfall called Denmark Strait Cataract located in the Atlantic ocean between Greenland and Iceland. It is the world's highest underwater waterfall, with water falling almost 11,500 feet and carries 175 million cubic feet of water per second. It is caused due to temperature differences in the water on either side of the strait. Cold water is denser than warm water. And the eastern side of the strait is a lot colder than the western side. So when the waters meet, the cold water sinks below the warmer water, creating a strong downward flow, which is considered a waterfall. And it's not just waterfalls that are under the ocean. There are huge secret rivers, complete with rapids and islands that flow down the sea shelves out into the desert plains creating river banks and flood plains. Here's a picture of the river Cenote Angelita under the sea of Mexico. These salty rivers carry sediments and minerals and could be vital in sustaining life. The world's sixth largest river, by volume, is below the Black Sea. It is 350 times larger than the Thames and 150 feet deep in places. 8. Milky Sea Phenomenon For over 400 years, sailors told tales of a mysterious event that takes place far out in the Indian Ocean. They would come across miles and miles of milky glowing waters, sometimes stretching as far as the eye could see. In 2005, a group of scientists led by Dr. Steven Miller of the Naval Research Laboratory in Monterey, Calif., decided to take a closer look at this story to see if it was true. They managed to register about 235 observations and get a satellite image that showed an area of low lighting in the Indian Ocean about the size of Connecticut. Their samples that they collected indicated the presence of a type of bioluminescent bacteria in the water, known as Vibrio harveyi. This isn't the same kind of bacteria that you might see in waves that use their bright light to ward off predators. This bioluminescent bacteria may actually use light to attract fish, since its favorite place to live is inside a fish's gut. Scientists' guess is that since they only emit a very faint light on their own, they have to gather together to make an impact. Their collective glow can grow to massive, milky sea proportions when their numbers swell to a huge amount -- think 40 billion trillion. They may also congregate to colonize algae. Sounds like a party! It is still only a guess since Dr. Miller and his colleagues haven't determined exactly what causes the bacteria to gather. 7. Unexplained sounds Of course dark, creepy fog can make you jump at anything that goes bump in the night. But what about things that go "bloop" in the sea? With names like "The Bloop," "Train" and "Julia," the sounds have been captured by hydrophones, or underwater microphones, monitored by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). The decidedly nonspooky nicknames for these sounds do little to dispel the mystery surrounding them. In 1997, NOAA hydrophones 3,000 miles apart picked up one of the loudest sounds ever recorded off the southern coast of South America: the Bloop (which sounds exactly like its name, a bloop). The Bloop mimics marine animal sounds in some ways, but if it were some kind of sea creature it would have to be almost the size of the Eiffel tower for that sound to be heard from 3,000 miles away. So what made the sound? It's anyone's guess but deep-sea monsters aside, NOAA holds the most likely explanation for The Bloop is that it was the sound of a large iceberg fracturing. Sure.... Another weird noise known as Julia sounds almost like someone whining or maybe even singing under water. The eastern equatorial Pacific autonomous array (the fancy name for the network of hydrophones) picked up this strange sound that lasted 15 seconds in 1999.

Atlantic and Pacific oceans joining at a point in mid ocean but do not mix each other | Unbelievable

01:28
On the temperature, salinity, and density differences between the Atlantic and Pacific oceans in the upper kilometre. Abstract The surface of the Pacific Ocean stands about 40 cm higher than the Atlantic Ocean with respect to the 1000-decibar surface, and the North Atlantic and North Pacific stand respectively about 14 and 17 cm higher than the South Atlantic and Pacific. The North Atlantic is warmest and saltiest, the South Atlantic is coldest and densest, and the North Pacific is least dense and least salty. The extreme values in temperature and salinity of the North Atlantic are probably related to the formation of the deep water there, which carries away from the upper layer the cold water of relatively low salinity. If this water spreads into the South Atlantic at depth and is replaced with warm saline surface water from the South Atlantic via the South Equatorial Current and the Gulf Stream, then the South Atlantic should be substantially cooler and less salty. The difference in density and sea level of the Atlantic and Pacific oceans may stem from the difference in latitude of the southern tips of America, Africa, and Australia, and the constriction of the west wind drift at Drake Strait. Only the densest surface waters of the Pacific pass through to the Atlantic, while lighter waters from lower latitudes of the South Atlantic pass eastward south of Africa. Further, the constriction of the flow by Drake Strait may result in a higher sea level on the Pacific side through the effect of Windstau (Montgomery, 1938). The density difference between the southern and northern oceans may be partly a consequence of the west wind drift around Antarctica. This is the greatest current of all oceans. Its flow is approximately geostrophically balanced and the surface slopes down to the south. The northern west wind drifts are not so strong, are at lower latitudes, and the high latitude flow is westward with slope upward to the north. These differences are not confined to the upper thousand metres. The average density difference between the Atlantic and the Pacific from the surface to the bottom is about 17 × 10−5 g/cm3. Referred to some deep surface such as 4000 decibars, the Pacific stands about 68 cm higher than the Atlantic.

10 Biggest Sea Creatures Ever Caught

05:42
You won't believe that fishermen actually caught these gigantic sea monsters! Subscribe to our channel: http://goo.gl/9CwQhg SyFy recently aired the third film in their so-bad-its-good “Sharknado” series, prompting some to wonder if airborne, tornado-based sharks could actually be real. Okay, so no one is really wondering that. Still, though, the ocean continues to represent a great unknown to us, providing home to countless species, many of which remain a mystery to humanity. The more we learn about what lurks deep below the surface, the more we realize still remains uncovered. With two-thirds of the Earth’s surface covered in water, it stands to reason that a great deal of that space remains unexplored. Of course, just because humankind hasn’t covered every iota of ground along the ocean floor, it doesn’t mean that those areas are uninhabited. All we know for sure is that the truly deepest depths of the world’s oceans continue to offer surprises, even as scientific technology becomes increasingly advanced. New species unlike any others known before are routinely discovered, with entirely new and alien biomes in extreme environments that no life had even been thought possible have challenged our very notions of what life is and how it has evolved. Amidst the cold darkness of a low-lying ocean area with depths that no sunlight can penetrate lies an alien world of incredibly rare and mysterious species. While many are simple, harmless omnivores, they share the ocean floor with some pretty unsettling forces. These ocean-based creatures – those that we know about, anyway – change everything we think we know about fish. Each one has at least one predominant feature that stands out as being unlike anything seen before. Think you know sharks? Well, how about one with a saw-like nose or a frilly, eel-like body. Think you’ve seen some big fish? How about a 17-metre long swimmer or a 900-pound squid or even a 5,000-pound behemoth sunfish? Lurking within the ocean are a number of deadly, threatening, vicious creatures that are naturally designed and programmed to hunt and stalk their prey. Thankfully, most of these monsters live at pressures that humans could never survive at – not that they would survive long down there, anyway. In recent years, Hollywood has sparked a fascination with zombies, aliens and other forces that exist beyond the realms of our planet and that are not steeped in reality. Despite that, some of the strangest and most terrifying creatures in the universe lie beneath the surface of bodies of water with which we are, at least partially, familiar. As we sit on a beach staring out at the natural beauty of the Pacific Ocean, we remain blissfully oblivious to all that lurks within. This list seeks to open the door to an entire world of deep sea activity, featuring a cast of creepy and spooky characters that few even know exist. These 10 fish, some of whom may seem to be borne out of your darkest nightmares, are all very real and may give you second thoughts the next time you foray into the ocean. And these are just the ones we know about… Check out these other awesome videos! 10 Shockingly Large Creatures That Actually Exist https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9odlL5Ti3dc 10 Things That Will Happen When Humans Go Extinct https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ml_awEqbEE Our Social Media: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TheRichest.org Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheRichest_Com Instagram: http://instagram.com/therichest For more videos and articles visit: http://www.therichest.com/

Barreleye Fish If you didn’t know any better, you might think this fish was some kind of aquatic robot used to spy on submarines during the cold war! The Pacific barreleye fish is an extraordinary creature that lives deep in the ocean’s waters. 5. Giant Isopod The Giant Isopod is another creepy creature that lives at the bottom of the sea. Related to pillbugs, it’s not actually a bug. It’s a carnivorous crustacean that crawls around the deep sea floor looking for food- from the remains of creatures that have fallen to the depths, or slow moving, living creatures like sea cucumbers and sponges, that it’s able to catch up to. 4. Dragon Fish The deep sea dragonfish, also called the Barbeled Dragonfish, is a family of fish that are found in the deepest parts of the ocean around the world. In all, there are nearly 300 different known species, each of which have their own unique characteristics. 3. Mariana Snailfish The ability for scientists to explore the deepest parts of the ocean has improved significantly in recent decades, which has led to a number of unmanned research missions to the deepest known place on Earth! 2. Sleeper Sharks Sleeper sharks are very rarely seen by ocean researchers. They are known to live in the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans and grow to up to 23 feet (7 meters) long and weigh up to 1,958 pounds (888 kg). A discovery in 2016 completely changed the way these creatures are understood. 1. Devil Worm All of the other animals on this list live in the ocean, since they provide much more habitable environments than are available underground, and far more research has been done in the water because it’s easier to access. This final one, though is the exception. Origins Explained is the place to be to find all the answers to your questions, from mysterious events and unsolved mysteries to everything there is to know about the world and its amazing animals!

Six million years ago the continents of Africa and Europe collided to close the Strait of Gibralter. Starved of water, the Mediterranean Sea evaporated to form a vast desert. The legacy of this vanished ocean? A million years' worth of salt deposited in mines half a kilimetre beneath the island of Sicily. A New Bermuda Triangle Theory Explains Its Mystery

12:25
The Bermuda Triangle is one of the biggest mysteries in the world. This region, shaped in the form of a triangle, is situated in the North Atlantic Ocean between Miami, Puerto Rico, and Bermuda. More than 150 planes, cargo ships, and smaller vessels have met their demise in this cursed area. Even with modern technology and communication systems, vessels still keep vanishing. The latest discovery may shed a different light on the eternal enigma. #bermudatriangle #brightside TIMESTAMPS: The most recent accident 1:45 The methane gas theory 5:12 Wormholes theory 5:44 Waterspouts theory 6:06 A hole in the electromagnetic forces of the planet 6:27 The human error theory 6:47 The alien theory 7:11 Enormous rogue waves 7:49 Holes in the sea 10:05 Music: https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music SUMMARY: - The most recent accident was also the most disastrous for the last 30 years, and it happened on October 1, 2015. That day, the huge cargo ship SS El Faro went missing in the area of the Bermuda Triangle. The search continued for weeks, and SS El Faro was finally spotted. It was positioned upright and in one piece at a depth of 15,000 ft in the Atlantic. The search party found no trace of the crew. - Some researchers believe that ships and planes crash and disappear in the area due to methane gas. And it has indeed been proved that there are massive stores of this gas in some areas of the ocean floor. Therefore, when gas is released into the water, the process can sink ships and make planes crash. - The wormholes theory is preferred by those who love sci-fi. In short, a wormhole is a space-time shortcut. While the existence of wormholes hasn't been proven yet, this doesn't stop some people from believing that this phenomenon is what causes vanishings in the Bermuda Triangle. - Waterspouts (more simply, tornados at sea) are said to have been spotted in the Bermuda Triangle. This weather phenomenon sucks water many feet up into the air. Potentially, this can make a ship disappear with eerie ease. - Compasses are reported to malfunction in the Bermuda Triangle. This place is one of the few on Earth where compasses have problems pointing north. This can lead to sailors and pilots going off their course. - The human error theory sounds rather disappointing for those who love mysteries! However, some people are sure that all the crashes and disappearances in the Bermuda Triangle happen due to people's mistakes. There are too many confusing islands that are hard to distinguish from one another as well as the difficult weather condition. - No mystery can exist without an explanation of alien interference. It's just too convenient to blame disappearances on extraterrestrial forces. Though why aliens would choose exactly this area for their abductions remains unknown. - The most recent findings of scientists allow them to claim that the mystery of the Bermuda Triangle has finally been solved. The culprits are huge sea monsters! But when we say “monsters,” we do not mean living creatures. They are enormous rogue waves that were believed to be a myth. Rogue waves are terrifying and anomalous. They are massive walls of water that move across the ocean. Rogue waves can have a force of 9 metric tons per square foot. To compare, the average 40-ft-high wave has a force of only 0.5 metric tons per square foot. Very Rare Garfish cutting | by old lady in Mumbai | sea food | fish lovers | toll fish | टोळ मासा

02:15
The garfish, or sea needle, is a pelagic, oceanodromous needlefish found in brackish and marine waters of the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean, Caribbean, Black, and Baltic Seas. Garfish are sometimes caught as bycatch, mainly in fixed nets along the coast in shallow waters. If caught with rod and line, they tend to leap out of the water when hooked. Garfish are eaten boiled, fried, baked, grilled, or smoked. They have unusual green bones (due to the presence of biliverdin) which discourages many people from eating them, but the green colour is harmless.

Cursed Shipwreck Yields Treasure and Human Remains | National Geographic

03:10
For 450 years, no one knew where the Swedish warship Mars, named for the Roman god of war, sank in the Baltic Sea. The largest vessel of its time went down in a fierce battle in 1564 with more than 800 people aboard. Its discovery in 2011 yielded an astonishingly well-preserved ship, including the seamen who went down with it. ➡ Subscribe: http://bit.ly/NatGeoSubscribe About National Geographic: National Geographic is the world's premium destination for science, exploration, and adventure. Living on the Ocean Floor

Living on the Ocean Floor - footage recorded by Vincent Zintzen, Te Papa Fish Team, Natural Environment. Film recorded using a baited Lander in various locations and depths around NZ. The video unit lights up the dark world of the deep sea. Food is scarce so the animals that live in the depths are attracted to the bait. The camera reveals the interesting behaviour of these creatures as they strive to survive in their extreme environment The footage of the seal shark attacking the hagfish, and getting a mouthful of slime for his troubles, is a good example of the knowledge gained through this difficult and exacting research. Who Lives In the Deepest Place On Earth?

09:57
Who lives at the bottom of the Mariana trench? Scientists have finally revealed the Mariana Trench mystery. Take a look at the deepest creature ever caught there! The curiosity of human nature makes people look for secrets and mysteries far away from home, like in outer space or on other planets. Scientists have mapped only 5 percent of our planet’s seafloor. And if you’ve ever considered the ocean plain and boring, the video you’re about to watch will blow your mind. TIMESTAMPS The Mariana Trench is the deepest area 0:45 The deepest-living fish in the world 2:40 “Ethereal snailfish” 3:12 A mysterious metallic sound 3:38 Deep sea cucumber 5:50 The deep sea anglerfish 6:20 The barreleye fish 7:13 The Champagne Vent 8:05 The 4-inch amoeba 8:35 SUMMARY The Mariana Trench is the deepest area you can find on Earth. Although almost everybody has heard the name, we have shockingly little data about this dark underwater place in the western Pacific Ocean. It’s a monumental task mapping the seafloor and taking pictures when the water pressure at the bottom is more than 1,000 times greater than that at the surface! Sam hooked up to his first goliath grouper and immediately got yanked forward. After an intense short fight, Sam Barrington landed his first goliath grouper. The day ended with Sam catching four goliath groupers. Meagre Meagre resembles a bass in shape, but is very different in many respects. It belongs to the Sciaenidae family. In the wild it typically lives in deep water in the Mediterranean, the Black sea and the Atlantic coast, but is often found in shallow and rocky seabeds. It can reach up to about four feet in length and can weigh up to 65 pounds. The history of Meagre in aquaculture is quite recent. The first trials with wild broodstock were conducted in the south of France. Starting from 1996, fry production has been very limited. In 1998, Greece began farming Meagre. Now the farm is fully vertically integrated. The Greek hatchery has achieved the highest productivity in the Mediterranean region. With the use of biological filters, they have developed a water recycling system, which protects the fry from various diseases, reducing water consumption and minimizing environmental impact. The fish are raised for 16-20 months in floating cages in the deep, strong currents off the coast of Greece. The fish are fed a nutritious fishmeal and fish oil diet derived from fish harvested from certified fisheries. The feed is GMO-free. Meagre's low fat white meat is very moist and tasty. The flesh has a firm texture similar to Corvina, and can be prepared a variety of ways.

2014 Russia Launches Surprise Military Exercise in Black Sea end times news update

2014 Russia Launches Surprise Military Exercise in Black Sea last days end times news prophecy update Russian President Vladimir Putin has launched a large-scale surprise military drill to test battle readiness in the Black Sea. Russian President Vladimir Putin surprised his defense minister in the wee hours of Thursday morning last week with an order for surprise military drills to test battle readiness in the Black Sea. Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu was awakened at 4:00 a.m. local time with sealed orders to activate 7,000 troops, 36 ships, up to 20 fighter jets and helicopters and 50 pieces of artillery. Aviation, paratroopers and special forces are involved in the exercises, which were launched immediately according to Putin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, who said "We are talking about major exercises, intended as a check," according to Russian news agencies. "According to international practice, exercises involving up to 7,000 people do not require us to inform our partners in advance," Peskov noted. He added that the drills would take place on three military test ranges on Russian territory and are expected to last about a week. Russia has been heavily involved in protecting Syria's President Bashar al-Assad from international ire at the United Nations Security Council, but as Assad's grip on power has increasingly weakened, and fragmented rebel forces gain control over more territory in the country, Moscow has begun to quietly evacuate its citizens from Damascus and surrounds. Likewise Putin has joined discussions over what may become of Syria's lethal arsenal of chemical weapons of mass destruction, a rising concern in the international community. The Black Sea is a strategic waterway bounded by Europe, Anatolia and the Caucasus, and connects to the Atlantic Ocean via the Mediterranean and Aegean Seas and two straits known as the Turkish Straits -- the Bosphorus and the Dardanelles. The Bosphorus Strait, which flows through the middle of Turkey, connects it to the Sea of Marmara. The Strait of the Dardanelles connects that sea to the Aegean Sea region of the Mediterranean, which separate eastern Europe and western Asia. Countries with shoreline along the Black Sea include Turkey, Ukraine, Bulgaria and Romania, in addition to Russia. Late last year Turkey requested -- and received -- authorization to deploy a number of batteries of Patriot missile defense systems along its border with Syria. The batteries, contributed by NATO allies that included the United States, were installed in January 2013. March 2013 Russia threatens USA with Nuclear attack - end times news update MOSCOW Russia has reported efforts by the West to block weapons exports to Syria. Meanwhile, Sunni rebels in Syria are acquiring Russian-made weapons from Serbia. A senior official said Western countries were using a range of means to stop the shipment of Russian weapons to Damascus. The official said, however, that the Kremlin has still maintained military deliveries to the regime of Syrian President Bashar Assad. The Russian ships are lured into ports and arrested there under various devised pretexts," Federal Service for Military and Technical Cooperation director Alexander Fomin said. "When the ships are at sea, any insurance is canceled." In a radio interview on March 2, Fomin did not specify cases in which Russia failed to complete arms shipments. He said the attempts reflected an organized effort by the international community. "A real war has been declared against us," Fomin said. Over the last year, both Britain, Finland and Turkey reported the interception of Russian defense shipments to Syria, including radars and main battle tank components. Damascus has been one of the two largest Middle East clients of Russia's defense industry. Meanwhile, Sunni rebels have acquired what they termed a powerful anti-tank weapon in their war against the regime of Syrian President Bashar Assad. Rebels have displayed the RPG-27, a shoulder-fired rocket-propelled grenade launch system. The Russian-origin RPG was designed to penetrate the armor of Syrian Army combat armored vehicles, including the T-72 main battle tank. In a display in northern Syria, rebels also unveiled the RPG-6 launcher, another Russian weapon. The rebels said the weapons were deployed by the so-called Victory Brigade, an Islamist rebel unit that operates in the Hama province. Another Islamist rebel militia, Ahrar Al Sham, also displayed the RPG-27 and -6. An Ahrar spokesman said Islamist militias have been sharing these weapons as part of intensified coordination. The RPG-6 was said to have been manufactured in Serbia under Russian license. Earlier, Western reports asserted that Serbia was supplying weapons to the rebels in a deal financed by Saudi Arabia. Rebels said additional new heavy weapons were delivered to Islamist militias in 2013. They said the weapons, which include the Chinese FN-6 surface-to-air missile, were also financed by Qatar.
