Awesome Japanese Bed Style Design

02:21
The minimalistic Japanese theme is now gaining popularity and moving into the world of the bedroom. You must be wondering – why? Well, Japanese style is highly sophisticated and simple. It focuses on "less is more" and thus allows one to transform his bedroom into a luxurious retreat. The right way to design the bedroom is to start with the floors and slowly work upwards. For covering the floor, consider tatami mats. Tatami mat is a traditional material used in Japanese homes to cover the floor. The traditional tatami mats are made of rice straw, and is highly comfortable for bare feet. In addition, if you find covering the entire floor a cumbersome task then place a tatami mat on the floor.Place a big mat in front of the bed or in the seating area. Secondly, decide a color scheme for the room. Traditionally, Japanese décor features neutral earthy tones. Colors you may consider are cream, brown, beige and black. Select any of these colors to dress the walls of your bedroom. Bring in splashes of colors by using bright nature colors through accent pieces. Orange, blue, green and red are common accent colors that can be incorporated through paintings, linens and decorative accessories. Thirdly, you need to furnish the room. The furniture pieces that are used in Japanese Culture are close to the floor and thus impart a centered feel. The bed you choose for your Japanese themed room must be as low as possible. You may also place the futon mattress directly on the floor. Complement the bed with a bamboo or a basic lacquered dresser. Keep in mind that furniture pieces that cater to the functional need are only introduced to the bedroom. So, please do not clutter the room and destroy the theme. Lastly, you need to accessorize or decorate the room. Try to select the decorative elements in natural materials such as bamboo, rice paper, or wood. Enhance the bed or the benches or chairs of the room with silk pillows and cushions. You may hang silk curtains on the windows. Rice paper lanterns hanged from the ceiling also look good. For the walls, hang one or two Japanese art painting such as a cherry blossom or any other nature inspired sober art work. There are things you can borrow from Asian interior design when decorating every room of your home. In the case of the bedroom, these elements take the form of some specific pieces of furniture, accessories, materials and finishes and we've going to explore some of the most popular and straight-forward options. A low bed. Japanese furniture is usually low to the ground. In the case of the bedroom, this would best translate into a Japanese bed or one that has a suitable design. Platform beds often used in contemporary interior designs are excellent. Textural balance. Balance is very important in Asian interior décor. Everything must be chosen carefully. The textures should work well together and they can be highlighted with accent lighting or using the right colors and color combinations Nature inside the room. Another defining characteristic of Asian interior design is the beautiful connection between the interior spaces and the exterior and nature in particular. Bring some of that natural freshness and beauty inside the bedroom. Perhaps a bonsai tree would be just what the room needs. Open space and natural light. keep the bedroom open and airy. It would definitely help if the room had large windows or glass walls. Natural light should inundate the room, making it look fresh, vibrant and welcoming. To emphasize the openness of the space, simplify all the furniture as much as possible. Natural colors. Extremely bold or neon colors are not something you see in Asian-inspired interiors or in bedrooms in general. So focus on natural colors, inspired by organic materials or by other elements found in nature such as stone, wood or vegetation. Sliding doors or screens. Shoji screens are popular in Japanese interiors but they're not the only option you have when designing an Asian-inspired bedroom. There are also other types of sliding doors or screens you can use. These window coverings give the bedroom a rich and authentic look. Handcrafted wall art. There are several options when decorating the walls of an Asian-inspired bedroom. One of them is to use something similar to this hand painted silk screen. It's simple but really lovely, with a theme that highlights the style chosen for the room. http://www.homedit.com/how-to-make-your-own-japanese-bedroom/

Interior Brick Wall Paint Ideas for Living Room Walls

02:55
How to Make an Interior Brick Wall Work Interior Brick Wall Paint Ideas Yanic Simard February 12, 2015 https://www.houzz.com/ideabooks/42430882/list/how-to-make-an-interior-brick-wall-work Interior Brick Wall Paint Ideas for Living Room Walls An interior brick wall can be considered a timeless treasure, an eyesore, a quirky feature or many other things. After all, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and bold brick certainly draws a lot of glances, imploring passersby to consider it, judge it and deem it either beautiful or too gritty. But with the right design knowhow, brick can add a unique, perfectly imperfect touch to any room — it has an organic character not found in plain drywall and can suit modern, traditional, eclectic or contemporary spaces equally well. So before you write off brick, get to know some basics of preserving, finishing, styling and otherwise falling in love with brick. Preserving Brick If you’re lucky enough to have a home that includes a beautiful exposed brick wall, in many cases you won’t need to do anything more than show it off. However, to make sure your brick stays stunning, you’ll want to seal and protect the surface to reduce the risk of disintegration over time. To keep a space feeling bright, a slight gloss finish can help your brick look lustrous, which is perfect for a slim entry or hallway space. Otherwise, a matte sealant won’t change the look of the brick but will help keep out mites and dust to help it stay beautiful longer. Cleaning If your wall needs a little cleaning before sealing, a mixture of vinegar and water will generally do the trick. Simply spray the solution lightly onto trouble spots and rub with a towel, scrubbing with a coarse bristle brush only where necessary to remove stubborn soil. In general, it’s best to start with a gentle approach in an inconspicuous area to make sure your brick won’t crumble, and use harsher cleansers only where absolutely necessary. Moisture and Grouting In moist areas like bathrooms, it’s especially important to make sure your brick is well sealed to avoid mold and other issues. Where grout is worn away or in bad condition, it is possible to repoint (regrout) the brick to restore a more solid surface. This requires the existing grout to be carefully routed out to at least a ¾-inch depth before being refilled with new mortar, so it’s something you’ll want to do just once and then carefully seal and maintain it. Finish Options If you prefer to cover or soften your brick, there’s an option for everyone. White A few coats of white paint is a popular choice for those who want to preserve the texture of their brick wall but give it a cleaner, more modern look. One advantage of this look, besides its ability to brighten a space, is the way it can help a space feel less busy, blending different elements like bulkheads and window trim (and the ceiling) together for an overall larger and more streamlined effect. Whitewashed For a true whitewashing effect, mix a small amount of water into your paint (roughly 1 part water to 3 parts paint as a starting point) and loosely apply the mixture with a large brush, letting it absorb and reapplying in uneven patches to achieve an aged finish. Just be sure to tape off any baseboards or adjacent walls and cover the floor with a dropcloth — drips are to be expected. Exactly how much water you use and how unevenly you apply the mixture will determine whether you create a patchy, broken-in effect (as shown here) or a more even, cloudy wash (as in the previous photo). Use more water and even coats for overall softness, or drier paint to let more brick remain uncovered. Gray. Another beautiful option for painted brick is a warm, soft gray. This has an earthy, organic quality while still creating a clean look; it’s an excellent compromise between white and au naturel brick. Stained. If you have a lighter brick palette and would prefer a deeper and richer tone (as shown in this picture), you can stain your brick much like wood to change the color without completely erasing the variation and texture.

37 Record Storage Cabinet Plans | Interior Design

If you are not into DIY, don’t have a time or just have two left hands ,check out my vinyl record comparison chart. It will make your storage unit shopping decision process a bit easier. 1. Ikea Kallax for Vinyl Storage on WHEELS Material: Particleboard, Fiberboard, Acrylic paint, Paper, ABS plastic (IKEA) Hight: 57 7/8″ (without wheels) Width: 30 3/8″ Depth: 15 3/8″ Well – as you can see in the title, there is “Ikea Kallax” written so… it’s not DIY or is it? Some might say that IKEA is as DIY as they could manage. But this one is not only that. Sure Kallax is the famous successor of Expedit, which was one of the most popular LP records storage system. But in this video you will see how to put it on wheels. I like shelves on wheels as you might now – just look here. I love all wheeled furniture to be honest. Man – mobility is great. So – this one is probably not the most advanced DIY project but it’s easy and very useful idea. So if you still can’t roll your vinyl collection around your room – definitely check it out. What I like about this one: Wheels obviously :D. It’s very easy to follow – no DIY experience needed. Nice extra tips (notice sponge rolls). It uses a very popular storage unit – Kallax. Probably a lot of you just happen do have one. For another great unit on wheels you might want to check Sandusky Lee Red Steel Mobile Book Case. 2. Making A Vinyl Display Unit Material: Plywood (half of an 8ft x 4ft sheet), Hairpin legs Hight: 41.8″ Width: 27.56″ (shelf width) Depth: 11.8″ You will love this one. I do for sure. It’s a step by step clip showing how to make a stylish vinyl display cabinet. It looks a bit advanced DIY but – what the hell, just go for it. The video is really detailed and Keith will definitely answer your questions if you will find yourself in the need of help. Just look at this one. It’s really beautiful. Imagine how much you would have to spend on this kind of unit in the shop – like here and here. Make it on yourself and spend the rest on records. You will need some hairpin legs for this project. Amazon is a good place to get them. Just look a this 28″ Hairpin Legs offer. They are very sturdy and have a lot of good reviews. What I like about this one: Great design. Metal legs. Detailed and professionally made video. Source: Making A Vinyl Display Unit 3. Displaying Vinyl Records: How To Make Album Cover Frames Album Cover Frames Image comes from Anthony Altorenna’s Hubpage I link to in this article. Material: Wood, plaxiglass Hight: 14″ Width: 14″ (shelf width) Depth: 3/4″ This one is not exactly a storage unit. Album cover frames will let you display your favourite or maybe the most valuable record’s covers on the wall. We all love cover art. A big part of the vinyl record’s magic is about beautiful large covers. A lot of them become iconic like this one below for example: Abbey Road - The Beatles Abbey Road – The Beatles, 50 Coolest Album Covers on shortlist.com This is a really simple and fun DIY project to decorate your walls with some true art. Try to make more then one and change your stair wall or corridor into a small vinyl album cover gallery. What I like about this one: Easy to follow. Looks great on the walls. Source: Displaying Vinyl Records: How To Make Album Cover Frames 4. DIY Record Display Shelf DIY Record Display Shelf Material: Wood Length: As long as you need. A very similar idea to the previous one. Might be a bit more complicated and you will need some woodworking tools for this one. What you’ll get is a narrow display shelf for your records. It can be as long as you need and looks great painted black. I really like the idea of displaying a long row of album covers along the entire wall. It may not be the best way to secure your collection but what fun would it be to keep it all hidden from the eyes. What I like about this one: You can adjust it’s length to your needs. Looks great on the walls. Source: DIY Record Display Shelf 5. DIY Record Box DIY Record Box The image comes from premeditatedleftovers.com blog. Material: Wood, screws Hight:14″ (without wheels) Width: 14″ Depth: 24″ (inside) On the premeditatedleftovers.com blog I found this nice and easy to make wooden crate. Crates will always be one of the most popular ways to keep vinyl records. They are easy to move and rearrange. You can always have one or two, when you are still building your collection and then buy (or make) more with time. This one here is a really simple and clean design. The best part is that you can follow the exact dimensions from the post or adjust them to your needs, making your crate longer or shorter. Great idea. Of course I wouldn’t be myself if I didn’t recommend you to attach wheels to it :D. What I like about this one: Nice and clean design. Adjustable dimensions. Detailed instructions with a lot of photos. Source: DIY Record Box http://www.lprecordstorage.com/7-best-recources-diy-vinyl-album-storage/

WoWWW !!! 38++ Best Record Storage Boxes Ikea | Interior Design

03:22
38 record storage boxes ikea - If you’re anything like me, IKEA isn’t usually the first place you think of when it comes to having fun. Unless, of course, your primary reason for visiting is actually a thinly disguised excuse for a cheeky meatball feast – then perhaps, you could be forgiven for enjoying your weekend trips to the land of affordable flatpack. In all seriousness, though, you’d rather be spinning some records, right!? But what if I told you there was a way to feed your vinyl habit and eat meatballs? That’s right, IKEA has plenty of storage and furniture products that just so happen to double as perfect vinyl record storage solutions. Here are a few highlights that I’ve stumbled across over the years… KALLAX Shelving unit The KALLAX shelving units are perhaps the most widely known option from IKEA that are suitable for vinyl record storage. They come in a variety of finishes (including the clean and contemporary white pictured) and each unit is perfectly sized for housing records. There are larger versions of the KALLAX available, you’ll just have to be a little mindful of weight – you don’t want any record landslides taking place from overloading! IKEA recommend not exceeding 13kg for each shelf. Still don’t fancy the trip to IKEA? These units are also currently available on Amazon. NORNÄS Bench The NORNÄS range are my personal favorite vinyl storage solutions from Ikea as they’re a solid pine construction which adds immediate character and authenticity. Better still, they are easily waxed, painted, or stained to give them a custom look. I stained mine a dark walnut color to convey a more sophisticated finish that wouldn’t look out of place in a contemporary city apartment. If you’re wondering about the added shelf in the central compartment, you’ll be pleased to know the shelf is easily removed to allow for more record storage. Equally, if you only need two compartments, simply incorporate the added shelf for handy storage of your vinyl accessories (cleaning equipment, record clamps, replacement styli, and more). For a cleaner storage option, consider adding one of Ikea’s many finished storage boxes for a plush finished look. Getting Creative with Kitchen Cabinets This unconventional storage suggestion comes straight from IKEA’s blog, where they invite you to get creative with “4 kitchen cabinet hacks“. Second on the list is a 40cm kitchen cabinet with legs, which, when paired with a new FLÄDIE door, makes a perfect side table and record storage unit. The beauty is, (and this is a topic for another day) almost anything large enough to house vinyl records could become a potential storage option, you’ll just have to think outside the box a little (see what I did there) about how you finish the piece. Second-hand furniture stores and antique shops are a great source of potential record storage units just waiting for your creative input. FJÄLLBO Shelving unit If clean cut and contemporary isn’t your thing, you might consider the FJÄLLBO instead. Built from a metal and solid wood frame, the FJÄLLBO has added built-in doors to help prevent little hands from tampering with those delicate vinyl treasures. Also, with a depth of 33cm, the solid wood top makes for a sturdy flat surface that houses most turntables comfortably. Again, perfect for keeping little hands (or even pets) out of harm’s way. GLADSAX – Vinyl Wall Display Looking to display your records on a wall? The GLADSAX frame is designed to hold LP-records. They’re also cheap: $7.99 at the time of writing. Spotted a great IKEA vinyl record storage option that I haven’t mentioned? Drop your ideas and suggestions in the comments below. https://www.yoursoundmatters.com/ikea-record-storage-solutions/

20+ Art Deco Bedroom Design

http://www.oklahomahomeinspector.biz How to Add Art Deco Style to Any Room Exotic woods, geometric motifs, and high-gloss finishes distinguish these first-rate furnishings and decorative accents TEXT BY MELISSA MINTON Posted February 28, 2017 Art Deco style, short for Arts Décoratifs, is characterized by rich colors, bold geometry, and decadent detail work. Having reached the height of its popularity in the 1920s, '30s, and '40s, the signature aesthetic still evokes glamour, luxury, and order with symmetrical designs in exuberant shapes. Here, we round up homes from Rio de Janeiro to Paris that feature Art Deco furniture, wall coverings, and fixtures in all their glory. Whether you incorporate Art Deco from floor to ceiling as Barbra Streisand did in her Malibu guesthouse or just add a chair or side table into the mix, the style is sure to elevate your space. The living room of a New York City apartment, which was decorated by Penny Drue Baird of Dessins, serves as a gallery for works by, from left, Damien Hirst, William Klein, and Hiroshi Sugimoto. The angular armchairs are 1930s French, the barrel-back bergères are from Lee Calicchio, and the cowhide rug is by Stark Carpet. At the Rio de Janeiro home of late designer Alberto Pinto, a Marcel Coard table hosts an ivory turtle, an Art Deco vase, and sculptural coco de mer seeds in the living room (which overlooks Brazil's Cagarras archipelago). In a Manhattan apartment revamped by Robert Couturier, the vestibule's French Art Deco console from Bernd Goeckler Antiques is grouped with a FontanaArte mirror from Galerie Van den Akker and a Cindy Sherman photograph. In this Los Angeles home, the kitchen's dining area is outfitted with an Art Deco chandelier and a vintage table and chairs. A Donald Moffett painting overlooks chairs by Cappellini and a Hungarian Art Deco games table from Szalon in the living room of a London home by Rafael de Cárdenas; the vintage floor lamp is from Todd Merrill Antiques. An Art Deco–style rock-crystal chandelier by Alexandre Vossion crowns the smoking room of a Manhattan townhouse by William T. Georgis, where walls painted in a high-gloss Benjamin Moore black are the backdrop for a Marilyn Minter photograph and a neon work by Tracey Emin; the curtains are of a Larsen fabric, and the Carlo Mollino stools, covered in a J. Robert Scott faux suede, are from Salon 94. In the main bedroom suite of a Wisconsin home by Michael S. Smith, an Art Deco–style mirror from Gerald Bland is mounted above a vintage desk by Melchiorre Bega; the circa-1930 Maurice Jallot chair is from Gallery BAC. Paneled in Art Deco mirror, the master bath of designer Linda Pinto's Paris home features a midcentury chauffeuse and an antique Japanese lacquer side table. In the same home, an Art Deco–style armchair, custom made by Atelier Seigneur, sits in the master bedroom, which is sheathed in a marquetry wall covering by Maya Romanoff. A Pratt & Lambert blue coats the walls of the once green dining room in a New York home decorated by Victoria Hagan Interiors; an expanse of mirror reflects the Émile-Jacques Ruhlmann table, French Art Deco chairs, and De Coene Frères buffet, which is from Karl Kemp Antiques. At the Plaza Hotel, an artwork by Mark Grotjahn brightens the living room in a Manhattan pied-à-terre decorated by Susanna Maggard Interiors. The curtains are of a Lee Jofa silk, and the Art Deco pieces-a 1930s Dominique armchair (clad in a Sahco fabric) and a '20s bench-are from Karl Kemp Antiques. The faux-pony-hair rug is by Stark. In the same home, as part of a gut renovation, VLArchitects principal Louis Lisboa created a large space to contain the living and dining areas, the latter of which features 1940s Baguès pendant lights, a French Art Deco wall plaque, and a '40s-style Venetian mirror, all from Newel. Ralph Lauren Home candelabra top the circa-1800 French table from Bernd Goeckler Antiques; the chairs, custom made in the manner of Émile-Jacques Ruhlmann, are upholstered in a Lee Jofa mohair, and the midcentury Italian cabinet is faced with Murano glass. In the family room of a Houston residence by Miles Redd, a Louis XV–style sofa is upholstered in a Larsen linen, and an Art Deco club chair acquired at Doyle New York is cushioned with the same Turkish velvet used for the throw pillows; the walls are dressed in a Holland & Sherry wool felt, and the sisal is by Patterson Flynn Martin. http://www.architecturaldigest.com/gallery/art-deco-rooms-slideshow/all
