Shawnee Chasser has been happily living in her tropical tree house for the past 10 years, right in the middle of Miami, Florida. This video tour was recorded in January of 2015, one year before the Miami government told Shawnee she must demolish her tree house. But Shawnee is adamant, she will not destroy her beloved home.
Her story has been featured in the Washington Post, Miami Herald, the Daily Mail and many more outlets. She has become a hero to many for her alternative lifestyle choice. But what will happen to Shawnee and her tree house? Only time will tell.
Shawnee's tree house is completely open air and that's the way she likes it! If she get cold, she simply puts on another blanket. Mosquitos don't bother her.
"I have an agreement with the mosquitos: I don't kill them and they don't bite me." - Shawnee Chasser
Shawnee's tree house also features an outdoor kitchen and office. She purchased a house, which she rents out, and built her tree house oasis in the backyard. On the property, she has a jungle-like swimming pool and multiple huts that she rents out on Air BNB to budget travelers.
In her free time, Shawnee makes a healthy popcorn snack, which she sells to local stores. Down the street, Shawnee's brother owns a multi-story tree house on his permaculture farm, which she raised her three children in. To tour that tree house, click here: http://youtu.be/O90MiFlrazQ
