HTML Lang Attribute Is Used To Define The Language Of The Page Or An Element

03:22
HTML Lang Attribute Is Used To Define The Language Of The Page Or An Element https://youtu.be/4-IyIOx-1Ek The HTML lang attribute allows developers to explicitly identify the language that the page is created in. This will help search engines rank pages in appropriate geographic locations. Google Chrome also uses the lang attribute to figure out if your default browser langauge matches the langauge set on the page. If the languages don't match then your browser will offer to translate the page for you. In addition to defining the HTML lang attribute for the full page, you can define the language for specific elements on a page. When you are developing HTML pages you should always define the language of the page use the HTML lang attribute. That's all there is to it. I hope this video helps you! Use HTML Refresh To Refresh Or Redirect A Page

03:15
Use HTML refresh to refresh or redirect a page https://youtu.be/FoqPpCXgFHc HTML refresh, also called HTML meta refresh, is used to redirect a page or domain to a different page or domain. These days, you would only want to use an HTML meta refresh if you don't have access to htacces to do a true redirect. Meta refreshes allow you to set a time delay, which is pretty cool, but also inconvenient if you don't want to have a delay. The better way to create a redirect is outlined in this tutorial on my other YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xgWPIu8hnG8&index=6&list=PLlgSvQqMfii77WdUkg680kIiFCcKKrI-H That's all there is to it. CSS Display Property Explained In Detail

05:13
CSS Display Property Explained In Detail https://youtu.be/xHo19HnGI0Y CSS display property allows you to set how an element an element is display and even if it's displayed. You can display an element block, inline, inherit or none. Block makes the element take up a whole row in the HTML element where it resides. Here's how it looks: display:block; Inline makes the element take up only the space it needs. Here's how it looks: display:inline; Inherit applies the same display property as its parent element. Here's how it looks: display:inherit; Display none makes elements disappear. It also makes it so the hidden element does not take up any space on the page. Here's how it looks: display:none; The display property is one of two properties used to make elements disappear. If you use visibility:none you will make an element disappear, but it still takes up the space on page so. So if the element is 200 pixels high, using display:none the content of the element disappears and the "blank" space takes up zero pixels on the page. If on that same element you use visibility:none you have a "blank" space that is still 200 pixels high. That's all there is to it. I hope this video helps you! HTML Title Attribute Is Used To Add A Title To HTML Tags

02:20
HTML Title Attribute Is Used To Add A Title To HTML Tags https://youtu.be/eQlxRDaUppk The HTML title attribute adds a title to HTML elements. The title is read by search engines and it also appears when someone hovers their mouse cursor over an element for more than a second. In the past you used to be able to keyword-stuff the title attribute to help with your SEO. If you do that in today you'll be penalized for keyword spamming. So don't do it. That doesn't mean you can't use your keywords or LSI keywords in titles, just don't over do it. Make it natural. A very natural place to add the titel attribute is images and links. Using the titles allows you to add more context to the your content. Search engines use this context to help them rank your content appropriate. That's all there is to it. Mastering The HTML A Tag

06:02
Mastering the HTML a tag https://youtu.be/ve5cu1uxUOA HTML A is the tag used to create links on a web page. To create a link the HTML a tag must have the href attribute along with HTML anchor text or an image as the anchor. The 'anchor' is simply the piece of content that will become a clickable link. The a tag also accepts some other parameters including a title attribute where you can define a title for the URL. If someone hovers over the link for more than a second the title will be displayed. You can apply the rel parameters with values of dofollow or nofollow. Which instructions search engines to either follow or not follow that link. You can also create links with a name attribute and no href attribute. If you have these throughout an HTML page each with a unique name you can make a link click take someone to that specific location on the page. For example, if you have create a tag with just name="middleOfPage" and put that tag in the middle of the page. Then you can great a URL that looks like this URL#middleOfPage. So the page URL with #middleOfPage at the end of the URL. That will jump people to that part of the page when the click the link. That's all there is to it. I hope this video helps you! HTML ALT Attribute Is Used To Add Metadata To Some HTML Elements

02:26
HTML ALT Attribute Is Used To Add Metadata To Some HTML Elements https://youtu.be/sv4cI3Wjdu4 The HTML alt attribute is most commonly associated with the image tag. It allows you to define text that appears on the page when an image can't be loaded. The contents of the alt attribute is also used by screen readers to give more information to people with visual impairment. For proper usability and accessibility every image should have an alt attribute defined. The complete the image tag you'll also want to add a src attribute and a title attribute. The src attribute defines the location of the image using a URL. It can be a relative URL or an absolute URL to the image. The relative URL doesn't contain the website's domain name. The absolute URL does include the website's domain name. If the URL in src is not correct then the value of the alt attribute will be displayed instead. That's all there is to it. Use Javascript Console Log To Non-invasively Debug Code

03:49
Use Javascript Console Log To Non-invasively Debug Code https://youtu.be/Xq2SH_UPtiU JavaScript Console Log is used to debug code in an unobtrusive way. Using JavaScript Console Log you can have data output into the console that a developer can easily see. A website visitor could see these console entries as well, but most users wouldn't even know how. To create a console log alert use the code below inside script tags (this is the same code from the video): var myNote = "This is my note"; console.log(myNote); console.log('1'); console.log('2'); console.log('3'); console.log('4'); The view the console log alerts you'll have to open the developer tools in your browser. It will appear in differnet places depending on your browser. Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox have the most developed developer tools. In Google Chrome, simply go to View menu, then hover over Developer Tools then click on JavaScript Console. In Mozilla FireFox, go to Tools menu, then hover over Web Developer then click on Web Console. That's all there is to it. I hope this video helps you! HTML Strikethrough - How to make a line through text in HTML and CSS

03:58
HTML Strikethrough - How to make a line through text in HTML and CSS https://youtu.be/nWx0aHNGWFU HTML strikethrough, HTML del and HTML s tags all do the same thing, they draw a line through the text you've wrapped with them. Strikethrough is actually deprecated in favor of del and s. And even better, you can strike through using CSS. In order for the CSS to work you have to wrap the text you want to strikethrough with some type of tag with an ID or class. If all you're doing is a strikethrough, it's often easier to just wrapt the text in the HTML del or s tag. If you are using strikethrough on lots of text on your website and on different pages it's better to CSS in case you want to make changes at some point. It's easily and quickly done through the CSS. CSS Border-Width Property Explained In Detail

04:01
CSS Border-Width Property Explained In Detail https://youtu.be/tlqBm_3lSUc CSS border width allows you to determine the width of a CSS border. This is a pretty cool since adding borders of varying width can to elements can make your website more visually appealing. Another interesting feature in CSS is you can apply borders two all 4 sides of a contain independent of each other. For example, you could have an element that only has a border on the right. Or you could have a solid border on the bottom and dashed border on the left. Or a dotted border on the top that is 4 pixels wide, a solid border on the bottom that is 1 pixel wide and a beveled border on the right that is 10 pixels wide. All that to say, you have a lot flexibility with borders. A couple things are important to keep in mind. 1. Proper border order. 2. CSS Table Border Tutorial - Better Than HTML Table Borders

08:41
CSS Table Border Tutorial - Better Than HTML Table Borders https://youtu.be/WrmjwNIThW0 CSS code from the video: td { border:1px solid green; border-right:none; border-bottom:none; } td:nth-last-child(1) { border-right:1px solid green; } table { border-bottom:1px solid green; } CSS table border sets a border for your tables. You can set a table order right in the HTML as well, but it's not as versatile and doesn't look as good. The options available using table borders is the same as setting borders on any other elements. But adding border's to tables can be a little tricky. By that I mean you have add borders to some table cells and table rows. For example, if you just add border:1px solid black; to all table cells you will have a double border in the internal cells and a single border around the outside. So you have to instead apply border:1px solid block;border-right:none; This will ensure that you don't have double borders, but then there won't be a border on the right side of the table. So you'll have to add border-right to just the last cells on the right of the table. It's a bit of a pain to add borders to table and it takes a bit of work, but it's well worth it. So you have a lot flexibility with table borders. A couple things are important to keep in mind. 1. Proper border order. 2. The different border styles you can apply to each side independently using the same order as in point 1. 3. The ability to add border color to each side independently using the same order as in point 1. That's all there is to it. I hope this video helps you! CSS Display:Block Declaration Explained In Detail

02:34
CSS Display:Block Declaration Explained In Detail https://youtu.be/1IgGXzGI5AU Display block css will make it so an element takes up the entire width inside the HTML element where it resides. This is common for headlines and divs. These means if the HTML element is set to be 200 pixels wide then a block element will take up all 200 pixels of that width. Similary, if the element is 1000 pixels wide a block element will take up the whole 1000 pixel width. Or if an element is set to 100% of the page, a block element within that 100% wide parent will take up 100% of the page. The other display values available to you are: Block makes the element take up a whole row in the HTML element where it resides. Here's how it looks: display:none; That's all there is to it. I hope this video helps you! If you have any questions, please leave them in the comments below. Create An HTML Table From Scratch Including Header Row, colspan and rowspan

11:30
Create An HTML Table From Scratch Including Header Row, colspan and rowspan https://youtu.be/FxKsX20pKm4 Building an HTML table is a required skill for anyone who wants to improve their website skills. Although a table in HTML is rarely hard coded these days, most websites contain dynamically generated tables which still require knowledge of HTML to create. Some of the HTML tables concepts you'll learn in this video include HTML table header (th), HTML table row (tr), HTML table cell (td), colspan, and rowspan. Building dynamic tables is beyond the scope of this video as you'll need to use a scripting language like PHP and a database technology like MySQL. The output HTML table from these scripts looks the same as a hard-coded HTML table, so understanding design concepts of tables is essential. An HTML table always starts with the table tag, which opens and closes the table. Next is a table row created using the tr tag. You can create as many table rows as you need, but keep in mind the more table rows you display the slower your page will be to render in the browser. Inside the tr tag is where you have table cells (td tags). You can also have as many table cells as you want inside a row. Keep in mind that the more cells you have the columns you'll have and the wider your table will be. This may cause usability problems on mobile phones. There is a special table cell called a table header cell (th tag). These cells are only used in one row and are most commonly used to create the header of the columns. By default, the contents of these cells are bolded and centered. If you create a row with table headers (th tags), then every other row contains table cells (td tags). You can force certain cells to occupy more than one column using the colspan parameter inside a th or td tag. You can also force certain cells to occupy more than one row using the rowspan parameter inside a tr tag. That's all there is to it. I hope this video helps you! Use JavaScript Alerts To Debug Your Code Or Alert Visitors

02:58
Use JavaScript Alerts To Debug Your Code Or Alert Visitors https://youtu.be/OcweWKfyIL0 JavaScript Alerts allow you to alert your visitors to certain things that happen on the website. They are quite intrusive and rarely used these days. They can be used to great effect on a development site to debug your code. To create a JavaScript all you have to do is add this line anywhere in your script: alert("THIS IS MY ALERT"); alert(myVar); There are two different version there. The first one will create an alert that displays a hardcoded string of characters. The second on will display the value of a variable. That variable needs to be set before the alert is generated. If not, the alert will still be generated, but it won't display any contents. You can insert as many js alerts as you need to debug various parts of your code. You can also use JavaScript console log to debug your script. It's just as easy to use and a little less intrusive. That's all there is to it. I hope this video helps you! HTML Line Breaks br / - Create And Use Line Breaks

03:38
HTML Line Breaks br / - Create And Use Line Breaks https://youtu.be/Romw2Oes8mg The use of html line breaks is becoming less and less common as more and more people are learning CSS. The biggest problem with using line breaks (or hard breaks) is that they are not mobile-responsive. If your website is responsive, then putting a hard break in certain places may make your text break at inappropriate places. If you have a separate codebase for your mobile site then this likely won't be a problem. However, if you do have a separate codebase for your mobile site I recommend that you convert your site to being responsive. Responsive is more future-proof and easier for the webmaster to manage. That's all there is to it. I hope this video helps you! If you have any questions, please leave them in the comments below. Use Javascript Confirm To Pause Scripts Pending User Input

03:21
Use Javascript Confirm To Pause Scripts Pending User Input https://youtu.be/eJvA0t4qDGs With JavaScript confirm you can ask for input from your users before your script carries on running. This is most often done to force people to accept your terms of service before they can progress with the order process. You can detect whether people chose Yes, No or closed the dialog box and then run different scripts depending on their input. Below the example from the tutorial. Feel free to copy it into your project and use it as you wish. var confirmMessage = confirm('Please press a button!'); if (confirmMessage == true) { alert('You pressed OK!'); } else { alert('You didn\'t press OK!'); } That's all there is to it. How To Change CSS Font Color https://youtu.be/7IkKyUNuYs0 There are simple CSS rules for adjusting font colors on your website. You have access to millions of colors using RGB, HEX and color names. Color names are the most limiting with only 140 options, but they are the easiest to read since the color names are written in plain text. This example is using the color name of red, which makes the font red. .myFont {color:#FF0000;} This example uses the HEX code for the font color and it is blue. .myFont {color:rgb(255,100,45);} This example is using rgb and the color is. A different version of RGB allows you to adjust the alpha channel, which is the opacity. .myFont {color:rgba(255,100,45,.5);} The example above will change the opacity of the selected font to 50%.
